yup. besides the awkward non-interview i had when i practically threw myself at the admissions office after an impromptu campus visit.

i remember reading through the main thread on this subject, though. the group interviews seem to be more informational thing than anything, right? not sure what to expect though, given the stage we're at in the admissions process, and how determinative this sort of thing is.

The group interview may be more about luring you into GULC, but Andy does observe something in the process. Anyway, best of luck!

Its another opporutnity to impress, so yes, I view it as a good thing. I'm curious as to your waitlist status, illy22? I'm only regular waitlist, womp.

I had an alumni interview just before getting wait listed. The interview went great and she was really enthusiastic about me, asking me if I'm ready to move to DC and telling me I'll love it. Yet, here I am, so the interview was not a major component. Or maybe she's the reason I wasn't flat-out rejected.

Does anyone know if there's a difference between doing a group interview and an individual alumni interview? I'm in NYC, fyi.

i applied f/t, regular decision, complete by mid-december. placed on the special group/PWL on 1/20, been stuck there since.

my cycle has been rife with waitlists! but this is the one i feel best about.

is GULC your #1 at this point?

Yea, Georgetown is my #1. I honestly wasnt expecting much after being waitlisted, so this is something of a nice surprise, though I don't want to get my hopes too high. I've already put a deposit down somewhere else, but would love an acceptance from GULC!

I was placed in the special group on 1/20 as well--I feel good about this though!! Good luck.

I went over last year's thread and I definitely see what you mean. There were bursts of activity in both March and April. This year, only March.

The vibe I'm getting is that they went to the SPWL in March this year to bring their total acceptances up to whatever their target is. Now they're just not sure what to do until the May 1 deposit date.

I'm still guardedly optimistic. I just think that in the middle of a recession caused in part by excessive debt, a lot of people are going to chicken out of taking on major debt for LS at the last minute, thus creating open spots after initial deposit deadlines. And that this will be especially true for GULC because they don't give out much money. Thus creating open spots after May 1.

For those of you who got invited to the NYC interview, when is it? Good luck, by the way.

Just found this thread...

Special PWL here. Have not been admitted yet, but did receive the fairly optimistic leaning email on Friday the 13th.

Was kinda disappointed that people from the SPWL have already been pulled and I wasn't one of them. Though I'm hoping for good things come May 1st.

Personally, I think you guys are lowballing the list of how many people are WL, PWL, and even SPWL. I think the numbers are probably higher, given that only a minuscule fraction are on this site and LSN.

Regardless, let's hope everyone anxious enough to be on these sites will get in!

Did anyone on any of the waitlists not get the email on Friday the 13th? I was under the impression that everyone got it...

I'm not sure if everyone on the wait lists got emails, but I am sure that different emails were sent out. The language for regular and preferred waitlist was slightly different. I don't know if the language between PWL and SPWL was any different though...

SPWLs got a different email from PWLs. SPWLs got assigned specific contact people in the office.

Now that I think about it, the email said:
"On our end, we will try to keep you as up to date as possible on the waitlist situation, both before and after May 1st."

Has anyone gotten any updates? I know there have been group interview requests. Was that everyone's first and only interview? Any new info in those emails?

I wonder if the pre-May 1 silence indicates a dearth of spaces.

Is it customary to include information about a peer school's offer in a LOCI? E.g., I'd also like to let you know that I've been admitted to XYZ university with an XYZ scholarship. And while I'm grateful for their award, your school remains my top choice" or something like that?

Should I sent LOCI now or wait until May 1st?
