Have you sent in a LOCI or any updates since being waitlisted?hellothisisme wrote:"Dear hellothisisme,
I am contacting you about your file on our waitlist at the University of Chicago Law School. Our seat deposit deadline just passed, and we are hoping to extend offers of admission to a small group of students from the waitlist this week. I will be meeting with the Admissions Committee over the next few days and we are planning to discuss your application. Are you still interested in attending the University of Chicago Law School? If you could let me know your thoughts at your earliest convenience, we would appreciate it. I am also happy to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you,
Jayme"

Re: Waitlisted at Chicago (2012)
They didn't start last year until early May! Is this a sign of schools feeling the impact of decreased applications...especially in the 170-180 band of applicants???Tiago Splitter wrote:+1.kennethellenparcell wrote:Ahhhh so soon for waitlist acceptances! Sounds like you are in though (if last year's thread is any sign).
*Furiously refreshes email*
Question not really directed at anyone. Just a thought.

Hard to say what it means. Sounds like their first scholarship deposit deadline passed and it's time to backfill.

Re: Waitlisted at Chicago (2012)
I sent in one sort-of LOCI. I wrote a why Chicago with my application so I just referenced that in my e-mail, like they said to do. And that was it.thelawschoolproject wrote:I'd like this information as well.zapcaz wrote:

I am a little paranoid about stats and such (sorry), but my LSAT score is not very good (sub-170) and my GPA is 3.9+.
I was really not expecting to get in off the waitlist at all, FWIW...

I'm a little worried I outed myself now by posting the e-mail, haha. I just really thought I had no shot at getting in with my LSAT score being as mediocre as it is, so I thought it was a generic e-mail they sent to every waitlister. But if I really have a shot of getting in... Holy shit. Did not expect this in a million years.

Also received the email. Sadly, I read it during a work meeting and so I couldn't jump up and down out of excitement like I wanted to.
Still trying very hard not to get my hopes up.

well dammit, it looks like I'm not getting in in the first round of WL admits
Unless the five LOCIs I've sent gave them the idea that I'm still quite interested and that an email asking this would be redundant.

Fair; I've got 2 and a visit, but after today's emails I think I'll have to start compiling material for a third.

Didn't see this thread, but I just posted in the chicago thread that I got the waitlist email as well, but I just withdrew, so good luck to everyone still waiting.

Well, shit. I sent one + a transcript. In January. I wasn't planning on sending another until I graduated & started my internship so I had something new. And could remind them of their sad 3.94 GPA 75th.JamMasterJ wrote:well dammit, it looks like I'm not getting in in the first round of WL admits

Maybe our ED apps + LOCI(s) were enough to convince them already....

Is that email a necessary condition to getting off the wait list?

To add data for anyone trying to figure out a pattern... I also received the email. I had written a Why Chicago, but I did not send a LOCI. I suppose I would be a reverse splitter? I have a below 170 LSAT and a 4.0. And now I am incredibly anxious...
