I'm not aware of a Spanish course. I'm sure speaking Spanish can be helpful down here, but I don't see it as putting anyone at an advantage. Then again, I guess it depends on where in Miami you're applying. I personnally speak very little Spanish.
Don't know if this is relevant but the fact sheet says that 65% of the class of 2014 speaks 1 or more foreign language. Means I need to learn a language fast.

Lol.

I was wondering about the Spanish courses because FSU offers a Spanish for Lawyers class and Stetson offers Rosetta Stone to select students trying to learn the language. I was just wondering if Miami had similar programs, since it has so many Spanish-speaking people...but I suppose native speakers wouldn't need it.

I just did a search on the Miami Law website. This question came up on their FAQ:

"4. Are any courses offered in Spanish?
The University of Miami is unique in its commitment to bilingual and bicultural education, and offers law courses in Spanish. These courses are intended for law students who are trying to improve their knowledge of technical Spanish."

--LinkRemoved--

Of course that says "improve" their Spanish.. not learn Spanish. So I don't know.

Thats good then. I know enough to understand classes taught in Spanish, but it would be nice to have more practice with law vocab.

Thats good news! I'm guessing you have already been admitted? And if so do you mind posting or PM'ing your stats? I'm somewhat delayed in the application process being held up by LOR's and haven't applied yet, but am aiming to get them out this week. My numbers aren't able to get me the merit scholly (158, 3.8) but I'm hoping to have a chance at the MS due to my large amount of community service hours (assuming I even get accepted). Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Unagi, is your interview face-to-face? And do you know if all MS applicants that they view as having potential get interviewed? I wonder if anyone gets it without an interview....My entire career (10 yrs) has been in public service so far, and haven't heard anything, so curious...

Don't know about face-to-face... All I can tell you is that I'll have a Skype interview. I don't know if they do this to everybody or just because I'm in another country.
And apparently I'll have two interviewers on the call
Have you been accepted yet? I got in on 11/29 and the email about the interview came on 12/12, so maybe yours is still to come!

I just got my acceptance email this morning! Interestingly enough, Miami was the last school to which I submitted my app, but the first to respond. A whopping 13 days to make a decision.

Hmmm, not so sure because I was accepted on 11/4. Well, I will be patient. GOOD LUCK with your interview!

To the current 1L, how are the job prospects currently, I noticed on USNWR there was not a high percentage reporting. Thanks in advance for any information.

Just received an email congratulating me regarding my scholarship. It said the scholarship letter would be sent to my current address on the application and I received the email in case I was traveling or abroad...No amount or anything else listed. Anyone else get anything similiar?
