If parking is either impossible or nightmarish, how do most students get to school? Does NOLA have a good enough public transportation system to handle that kind of thing, or do you just have to live within walking distance to campus?

I don't know anyone who has to drive to school. Most people live within biking distance. I'm about a mile walk from campus, and I kind of like the journey each day. Some people think I'm insane for walking a whole two miles (gasp!) each day, but for me it gives me a little head-clearing time and exercise. If I need to go back to campus after dark, it's typically easy to find a parking spot after 6 within a few blocks of the school.

Grrr. I'm pissed at myself now. I've been complete since 11/9. Clearly rejected.

Some people get quick turnaround. Some people don't. I went complete in late November and wasn't accepted until March 21. Admissions processes are a puzzler. Best not to make guesses.

I also got in with scholarship, so don't think that late acceptances have no chance at money.

Nice to hear it took you a while to get accepted. It's still kind of demoralizing not seeing anything on the status checker. I mean if you're gonna reject me do it within reason if not dont keep me waiting. Sorry for the vent I went complete 10/25 then my date updated 11/8 then nothing.

While the overwhelming majority of students stay within 1 mile of campus, I stay 3.5 miles away (in the Mid-city part of New Orleans) and commute to school each day. I have a parking pass ($560 for the year, unfortunately) which allows me to park at Tulane's parking garage. The garage is never completely full, so I've always found a spot there.

I stay in a apartment complex, which is rare for someone in New Orleans because there are not that many of them. Because they are so rare, they cost more than you would think they would. A one bedroom apartment in the Uptown, Central Business District, and Mid City area of New Orleans would have a market rate of $900-$1,400 (While I'm unsure of the rates for duplexes and apartments in homes, I'm certain they probably cost about the same).

SIDE NOTE: I would suggest against staying outside of the Mid City/Uptown area as commuting longer distances can be horrible (especially if you have to get on the interstate).

Yikes. I knew some people who lived in Mid-City, and while Mid-City is fun (Brocato's! Parkway!) that's sort of a bitch to drive each day. FYI, apartmentsharing is a great way to go around Tulane. Most of my friends lived in decent 2BR places for 500-650/person, especially if farther away. There's definitely some 1BRs around campus (in bike range) that run 600+ as well. Apartments in houses are definitely most common around campus. There's very, very few apartment buildings around campus.

Greetings. Have been accepted with 25k per year scholly. Trying to decide if the 17k a year cost will be worth it. Plus the fact I'm a Minnesotan. As much as I'd love to get away from the snow, I am not sure it is worth the heat haha.

To me, Mid-City is far and I would not call it fun. People stay in the Marigny/Bywater, CBD, and (Lower) Garden District too.

If you stay too close to Tulane, be prepared for undergrads. I would recommend keeping some distance and biking.

Fun as in larger apartments, fewer undergrads, and different bars. It's different from the area around the university, and the people I knew who lived there liked it. But yeah...far.

Not true! I go to a boxing gym in DC and many law students from local schools are regulars there. Even some T14-ers train there during the summer. And don't give up on Tulane! As you may have read already, the pattern of admits is sporadic and not necessarily numbers-based at Tulane, so there's plenty of reason to have hope.

TBH, I don't follow many fights above super welterweight. I just don't think there are many fighters in those weight classes that are fun to watch but maybe I just haven't been put onto the right fighters.

On LSN, there are definitely some folks who applied early like you, were forced to wait until Feb for a decision and ended up getting decent money.
