Re: Georgetown c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I submitted 5 minutes after the app became sendable on Saturday 10/01, and my status checker just did the same thing.jc010 wrote:I was reading last year's thread for Georgetown and noticed all the status check updates as people were supposedly being reviewed.
Just wanted to post that I submitted Saturday 10/1, went from incomplete to complete on Monday, 10/3, and until today the status checker said Current Status Date 10/3. Today it changed to Current Status Date 10/6.
I guess we shouldn't get excited, though - last year people report the date changing multiple times over at least a couple of weeks before any decison was made. The first with decisions last year were RD candidates who submitted on the 1st - a few of them got acceptance letters on the 27th.

And some got rejected... so we'll cross our fingers!

Question, has georgetown sent thank you letters to anybody else's recommenders? They emailed mine today - first time I've seen that. Is that typical?

Yeah, I got one. He was a little confused since he didn't know I was applying.

My recommenders got those letters also. I don't think they've got letters from any of the other 14 schools I applied to.hdsoc wrote:Question, has georgetown sent thank you letters to anybody else's recommenders? They emailed mine today - first time I've seen that. Is that typical?

My recommenders got the email too. One was really confused because he sent his in back in April and wanted to make sure everything was okay with my application if he was just getting that email now. I guess that's what I get for having told him I needed it in by summer...

My date changed too. Went from 10/3 to 10/6. Fingers crossed. Haven't heard anything from other schools, so it would be great to heard from Georgetown.

How tough is getting a solicited fee waiver?
Also, what optional essays are "necessary?"

I got one in a day, but I think my numbers are better than yours. And no optionals are necessary--this is the first year they're even offering them.JamMasterJ wrote:How tough is getting a solicited fee waiver?

I got one with a 3.6/171, which is similar enough to your numbers that you're probably fine.JamMasterJ wrote:cool. Same! I am quite stressed about this. I called the office the other day & they said it usually takes 10 business days after submission for them to get your application complete. I was all excited b/c their website says they let you know their decision result 3 weeks after your app is complete, but now it seems like completion will drag on.ihhwap1 wrote:I'm starting to get concerned. Is anyone else experiencing a delay in the status checker email? It's now been a week since I submitted my app and I haven't gotten anything. LSAC says it's complete, but still no email from Georgetown.

Wait, where does it say you find out three weeks after completion? The website says:
Applications are typically considered beginning in November and candidates are notified as soon as decisions are reached, usually eight to twelve weeks after a file is complete with all supporting documentation

in addition, just looking at the graph of admitted students and their dates kind of support the whole 3 week thingfreestallion wrote:Wait, where does it say you find out three weeks after completion? The website says:

Yeah, makes sense looking at last year's admission graph. Hope we start hearing by Oct 26 or so, similar to last year. But I just didn't see anywhere that it was guaranteed 3 week turnaround so I was surprised..

Re: Georgetown c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Sorry if this has already been asked: I'm almost ready to submit my G-town application, but I would like to apply to the Public Interest Law Scholars (PILS) program. I keep checking daily for that application, but it's still not out.
On the PILS website it says:
On the PILS website it says:
Does this mean I have to submit them at the same time (delaying my submission of the general app) or can I submit and then send in the PILS application separately since you have to be admitted to the Law Center anyway to be considered? Any advice would be great!Applicants apply for PILS at the same time you are applying for admission to the Law Center. Evening as well as Day Division students are eligible. Only students admitted to the Law Center will be considered.

I would think you can apply & submit the PILS application after, since they can't review your PILS app until you are accepted anyway. If they don't put it up soon-ish, I'm going to call the admissions office to make sure because I am applying as well.thestillpoint wrote:Sorry if this has already been asked: I'm almost ready to submit my G-town application, but I would like to apply to the Public Interest Law Scholars (PILS) program. Re: Georgetown c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I'm pretty sure you can apply now and then apply for PILS later. It would be strange to force us to delay completion of our apps just to wait for them to put up the PILS app. I want to do the same and I went ahead and sent my app in. You may want to call the office and confirm.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
