Re: NYU Class of 2015 Applicants
Checking in! NYU is my #1 choice, however, I'm not going to ED. I hope to have my application ready to send by 10/1.

Re: NYU Class of 2015 Applicants
so, i'm reapplying this cycle after first applying in the 09-10 cycle. in that cycle i got a fee waiver from NYU and was admitted in the first round of acceptances. i was hoping for another fee waiver this time around (updated my CRS and have been receiving waivers here and there from other schools including u of chi) but didn't get one, and last night sent an email requesting one, saying i was admitted last time i applied, have these and these stats etc. today got back:
Thank you for your e-mail. CRS fee waivers are only available for the cycle during which it was granted. It is possible that you will be referred to our school again by CRS and you may receive a fee waiver later in the cycle, but there is no guarantee. Should you qualify for the CRS fee waiver once again after you submit your application, you may be reimbursed for the cost.
should i go ahead and submit then? i'm not sure what they mean by "may be reimbursed," or how realistic that is, but i really would like this waiver and am disappointed not to have gotten it. thanks for any input

Is it acceptable to make the "optional additional information" essay a "Why NYU essay"? I know for Columbia they have a general supplemental section that CAN be a Why Columbia, but I don't know if this veers too far from what they want for NYU?

Re: NYU Class of 2015 Applicants
Personally, I added extensively to my personal statement to specifically discuss why I wanted to go to NYU. I don't know that they want a separate essay just for that, but I would extend your PS if possible to try and really integrate into your PS reasons you want to go to NYU. Personally I used the optional essay for my diversity statement as that seemed more along the lines of what they wanted.jellybean8 wrote:Is it acceptable to make the "optional additional information" essay a "Why NYU essay"? Someone compiled the data for people at both medians and something like 98% of people were accepted. They're a numbers whore plain and simple.Tiago Splitter wrote:Yeah not a lot of yellow amongst the green on the LSN graph.Hawkeye Pierce wrote:Lol @ NYU caring about softs.

This is so so so true. NYU = most predictable T10 school by far.Hawkeye Pierce wrote:Someone compiled the data for people at both medians and something like 98% of people were accepted. That is actually very interesting. I never really noticed that for that graph, almost all applicants with >174 LSAT and >3.6 GPA were outright accepted - there are only two waitlists, and no rejections for those numbers.soj wrote:I wouldn't be so sure.muaythaifighter wrote:yeah it is predictable but for multiple takers like me it is not lol

Well, I'll be right at that mark after fall semester...that's plenty of incentive for me to actually do work.sfreuden wrote:That is actually very interesting. Are you applying this cycle? If so, are you waiting for your fall semester to end before applying, or do you just mean it might help when you send in your fall semester grades?Yeshia90 wrote:Well, I'll be right at that mark after fall semester...that's plenty of incentive for me to actually do work.sfreuden wrote:That is actually very interesting. Re: NYU Class of 2015 Applicants
Ah, that makes more sense. But applying early, ED, and with >174 LSAT, I think you have a great chance. Seriously, look at the LSN graph for NYU. People with 174s and above were getting in with GPAs in the 3.4 to 3.5 range.Yeshia90 wrote:
