So you got a specific regarding your fall grades?lisjjen wrote:My app was held today. They want to see my fall transcript and my fall transcript ain't lookin good.

I already did all that in my PS. Now what am I supposed to write about???Confused7 wrote:Good idea. Although after browsing the Held thread from 2010, I'm not feeling too good.tkgrrett wrote:Given the sheer volume, more than a few of you guys are getting in. With that said, check out the detailed descriptions of the clinics and their work for come LOCI/Why Harvard ammo. Harvard even has a youtube channel that discusses some of the work that their clinics have done. IMO, this is a major strength of the school.
The Admissions Committee has reviewed your application and has decided to hold it for further review... A hold decision provides you with the opportunity to update and supplement your file. For example, if you have received additional grades since submitting your transcripts to LSDAS, please send these new grades to LSDAS.CastleRock wrote:So you got a specific regarding your fall grades?lisjjen wrote:My app was held today. So this is just what a Harvard waitlist looks like? That would be great. Also, this site never made more sense than right now when I can stop pulling my afro out in small pieces because I'm stressing out about it.CastleRock wrote: oh, ok. The same as the rest of us. Alrighty.
no, this isnt a waitlistlisjjen wrote:So this is just what a Harvard waitlist looks like? That would be great. Well I already updated my transcript and it couldn't be better. I'd love to hear sooner. So give me a little of that Ivy magic soon? Please?cardinals1989 wrote:Just a tidbit I picked up in beginning to read last year's thread:

From the above, it appears that a hold lasts anywhere from two weeks to several months. If you let them know that you're retaking the LSAT, it's possible that they can put your file to the bottom and not process you until after you do so — but then, I'm not sure whether they do that or not.arism87 wrote:Sorry to repeat: anyone know how long a "hold" lasts? I kind of want to retake the LSAT but not if they are going to reject me before the scores come out..

+1 on all accounts. Let's talk about it on Sunday. lolslax wrote:I did a grade update today. Not sure if I'm going to request another LOR. My 2 were academic, and the third would likely be my boss.
I wish Harvard would just tell us what was lacking in our app so we could fill that specific hole in instead of guessing at what would improve our standing.
lf you have a good one to send, send it. I already sent one with the original app. I don't have much more to add apparently.padthai wrote:What do you guys think about sending in an LSAC evaluation instead of or in addition to a LOR?

Don't think anyone can safely say...I'd say you have at least 2 weeks (since HLS specifically invited people to send in updated transcripts) but it's just a number pulled out of thin air.Confused7 wrote:So how long do we safely have before the first wave of rejecting holds? I just asked another professor for a LOR today AND am still waiting on the grade for my senior thesis. Knowing LSAC it's also going to take a few weeks to process.
cardinals1989, I think at this point we should do as much as we can to coddle these schools....even Harvard. It's nice to show an effort that we really want to go to HLS for other reasons, and not simply that it's Harvard.
I'm late to this party...but with no JR1, I basically told my parents I was out at Harvard just so they would stop asking me about it (when what I really meant was "as good as rejected"). After the e-mail, I had to explain the real situation and my dad goes, "you know what this means right? You're getting into Harvard." *face palm*hellome wrote:gah this is EXACTLY what my parents have been saying all daylisjjen wrote:On the waitlist today.

How much did it fall? Mine fell too a little too, but I think I'll still send it. Most of the schools that I've contacted about fall grades, including Harvard, have expressed an interest to see them regardless of what you got. I specifically asked them if it was a "choice" or if it was pretty much "standard" procedure for applicants to send an updated transcript, and they just said they wanted to see the grades.padthai wrote:Don't think anyone can safely say...I'd say you have at least 2 weeks (since HLS specifically invited people to send in updated transcripts) but it's just a number pulled out of thin air.Confused7 wrote:So how long do we safely have before the first wave of rejecting holds? Those of you who saw a GPA fall after the fall semester...are you still going to send in a new transcript to LSAC? I don't want other schools needlessly receiving my lower GPA, but also don't want to gamble with HLS...conflicted

Sounds like you had an amazing semester, philly, and I don't see why you couldn't show it off even if it's grad school grades. Can't hurt!r6_philly wrote:So would they care about my grad school grade update? My GPA and softs are the only things keeping me here I am sure. Obviously my softs weren't enough, and I graduated already.
I know it can't hurt, and I sent it already. I just wonder if it will really give me a little lift. I really want in, but know that it is a very very tall task.Confused7 wrote:Sounds like you had an amazing semester, philly, and I don't see why you couldn't show it off even if it's grad school grades.
