Re: Seattle University 2011
I applied, it took them roughly a month to get me a status tracker, but it shows me in review since shortly after they received my application fee.
UW/SU are the only west coast schools I applied to (actually, the next western-most school I applied to is Wisconsin)

I know a couple of people who went to SU with that but not any recent grads. From my understanding it was for URMs and/or borderline canidates. Not sure what the issue is, I'd give them a call on Monday for clarification.uwer99 wrote:does anyone know what's up with the access admission program?
my wife received notification that her application is being considered for this program, but she applied for the night program as she plans to keep working during law school. her numbers are fairly decent for SU - low 160s lsat and 3.45 gpa from UW (with a strong 6-year work history), so we're confused by this latest update. especially since it looks like the aa program is full-time, she doesn't have a disability or a significantly diverse cultural background, and is not a minority...
At least it wasn't a deny?

Wife called today and apparently all the administrative person said was that it looks like her file is under review by the access admissions committee and that she (the staff person) couldn't really elaborate beyond that, other than stating she wasn't part of the admissions committee... not sure what to make of it, guess we'll just have to wait it outfencod wrote:Wait til Tuesday. Does Seattle send out acceptance letters via email or just regular mail?

Status checker changes to Admitted, but the letter comes snail mail in a big packet.chris0406 wrote:Does Seattle send out acceptance letters via email or just regular mail?

Still waiting... In review since 1/10. Applied just before Christmas. Waiting on both UW and Seattle U is starting to drive me a little insane. Would love to just see that status checker click over to admitted....

Any updates today? A quick glance at LSN shows that decisions are always made on a Friday.

No update for me today. I've been in review since 1/13 and was really hoping to get a decision this week. Starting to get pretty nervous with this long review. But it doesn't look like I'm the only one that submitted around Christmas and is still waiting for a decision.clarsen wrote:Any updates today? I was able to convince Seattle U to bump up my scholarship offer a bit, but it's still nowhere near a full ride. Do they ever give full rides?
Also, has anyone ever heard of Seattle U dropping the "top 25% grades" stipulation from their scholarships? It seems like it is standard. Have they ever dropped it for anyone?

It's crazy that you only got, roughly, a 40% scholarship with that LSAT.. I don't know.

does L&C do better than Seattle U in Seattle? Predicting a ding from UW and trying to figure out the best PNW option...Adjudicator wrote:I was able to convince Seattle U to bump up my scholarship offer a bit, but it's still nowhere near a full ride. Do they ever give full rides?

No way. Edit: And not even close.
And to the poster above, I'm pretty sure the biggest merit scholarship SU offers is $20k a year.

Re: Seattle University 2011
I would be very surprised if L&C's placement in Seattle was significant, whereas Seattle U has an extensive alumni network in the area and is quite well respected here. If I were deciding between L&C and SU with the goal of working in Seattle, I would pick SU hands down.crit_racer wrote:does L&C do better than Seattle U in Seattle? Obviously this is just one firm, but I went to the website of Perkins Coie, one of Seattle's biggest and best law firms. You can search their lawyers based on law schools. They currently employ 55 UW grads, 48 SU grads, and 16 L&C grads, and of those 16, only 2 are in the Seattle office. The rest are mostly in Portland.
Needless to say most of the 48 SU grads are in Seattle and Bellevue.
Small sample size is small, but it is good to know that Seattle's major firms (oxymoron?) recruit extensively from SU as well as UW.

They say that they make decisions within 8 weeks. I have been complete/in review since 1/10. I am hoping to get a decision this week. 8 weeks would be next thursday.... I have good numbers for them as well.

Yes, as i understand it, anything BUT an acceptance is sent via email. Unlike Richmond, Seattle apparently is trying to save some trees.chris0406 wrote:Sorry to hear it also, was it via email?bnaidu wrote:Dinged on Monday.
Pretty bummed about this one, holding out for Willamette and U San Fran now. Been looking to return to my hometown of Seattle, but oh well...someday.

I think that just changed this week. My decision date is 2/25, but my status checker was not updated until 3/1. I've been checking daily, and I know that it definitely was not updated any time before 3/1. Decisions may only be made on Friday, but clearly they are updating during the rest of the week now.tony1003 wrote:And here i was thinking they only did decisions on fridays... crossing my fingers for tomorrow.
