Re: University of Nebraska 2011
I emailed Kirk Kluver in admissions after I attended at ASW two weeks ago. He said he'd be happy to resubmit it to the committee for their reconsideration. I haven't gotten a response but I get the feeling they may come up a little. I'll let you know when I get an answer.undecided11 wrote:Does anyone know if Nebraska typically negotiates scholarship $?

Awesome. Thanks for the updated. I emailed just the admissions office but haven't heard anything from them yet. How long did it take for them to email you back and if you don't mind would you share your numbers?

Re: University of Nebraska 2011
It took them about a week to tell me they were re-submitting, but I sent them a bunch of questions. I haven't gotten a firm answer yet, but if I don't hear by Monday, I'll call again. I think they're on spring break this week. My numbers are 3.33/159. Good luck!undecided11 wrote:Awesome. Thanks for the updated. Re: University of Nebraska 2011
I was on campus for ASW a couple of weeks ago and really liked what I saw. The building has been completely renovated and expanded since 2001. The reading room on the second floor of the (attached) law library is stunning with enormous windows and lots of natural light. The law school is located on the East Campus, a few miles away from the hustle and bustle of City Campus (aka undergrad) life. The east campus houses other professional schools like the College of Dentistry and various research facilities. There is a separate student union and bookstore serving East Campus. That being said, all of the amenities of the large university campus are a short bus ride or car drive away. If found the students to be intelligent and capable and the faculty and staff to be engaging. If you have specific questions, feel free to PM me.ballboy899 wrote:just got a late scholarship offer yesterday..so i decided im going to visit in a couple of weeks because they extended my deposit deadline for me

Re: University of Nebraska 2011
I emailed Kirk in admissions asking for an increase in scholarship about 2 weeks ago. I pretty much just stated that Nebraska was one of my top choices and that it was currently cheaper for me to attend Creighton/St. Louis University. He re-submitted my application to the scholarship committee and within a week my scholarship went from 14k/year to 24k/year! Everyone I have met at the school so far is great and I went ahead and sent in my deposit yeaterday!undecided11 wrote:Does anyone know if Nebraska typically negotiates scholarship $?

Re: University of Nebraska 2011
I'm getting set to mail in my intent to enroll form tomorrow, but want to talk it over with the wife one more time. I asked Kirk to reconsider my scholarship and they weren't able to adjust it for me but Nebraska is still about the cheaptest choice for me. I am looking forward to being a Husker (again).CUpete2010 wrote:I emailed Kirk in admissions asking for an increase in scholarship about 2 weeks ago. I'm not going to Nebraska Law but I did my UG here and still live in Lincoln so I'd be glad to answer any questions about campus life/living in Lincoln.

I plan on withdrawing my full from UNL for somewhere else. If only I could get UMN to stop emailing / phoning me.
I live in Lincoln as well I would suggest that people plan on moving there look for a place in late April / May. A lot of students pick apartments when they are kicked out of the dorms 2nd week in May.
Also, get on football tickets because the sign up for those is pretty soon.

Fairly nice. Kind of expensive for Lincoln though and very unforgiving when it comes to getting out of your lease. I had a friend who had lived there almost 3 years and when he wanted to get out a couple months early they wouldn't let him out of his lease.driftwood6 wrote:Thoughts on Lionsgate apartments?

Re: University of Nebraska 2011
Thanks Sentry. Ya I am trying to find out about potential apartments near East Campus. Ideally, within walking or short drive distance. If you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Sentry wrote:Fairly nice. Kind of expensive for Lincoln though and very unforgiving when it comes to getting out of your lease. Take a class with Marvin Ammori or Lyons. Those 2 are probably the best faculty UNL has at the Law college. Marvin Ammori is super impressive and a very good speaker.

Are any of the other deferred candidates still waiting? I was told that all decisions should be made by the end of this week..
Let's hope so.

Re: University of Nebraska 2011
Not entirely accurate anymore. Creighton's reputation is really slipping. They are significantly lower ranked in both Law and Med School than Nebraska now and more Nebraska Grads are getting good placement and making it easier to network.typ3 wrote:The problem with Nebraska is they don't give full's to out of stater's as far as I know of.
That makes it really hard for top candidates staying in the midwest to pick them. I would rather pay full at Iowa / Minnesota than attend Nebraska at instate price.
The employment prospects are just a lot better for those other two schools. Plus, most people staying in Nebraska want a job in Omaha, and if that's true you are better off at Creighton since usually the Omaha clerkships go to them.

I'm a current IL at NE if anyone has any questions. I should be spending all of my free time studying, but I have a short attention span.
