Re: West Virginia 2011
I'll take the acceptance and money, no doubt! I've been accepted to a school in Ohio, but WVU is much closer to my family. Plus I want to work in WV so WVU makes the most sense. Right now my wife is panicking at the idea of moving 5+ hrs away from our families. Not an ideal situation w/a toddler. An acceptance from WVU would be great!
A question for some people who have called the admissions office: which number did you call? I've tried the one for Dreama DeVincent, but it seems to be a general line and always goes to vm. Is she who we would call if we wanted to check our status, or have you called Tina Oliverio? I've been "In Review" since 1/5 and would like to have an idea of how much longer I have to wait in suspense.

I have been in review since the 4th... would really like to hear something soon!
Thanks to all those who withdrew... I'm sure I speak for many when I say I appreciate someone who realizes that even one spot given up means one more person crossing their fingers gets a chance. Best of luck to all.

What phone number have people been most successful using to reach admissions staff members. I sent my application on the 7th or something and haven't even gotten the amail with my login info.

I got pooled today, which I assume is their equivalent of a waitlist. No date on when my file may be reviewed again.

Re: West Virginia 2011
I was sort of right...was accepted to University of Dayton today. So far I'm in there and at Ohio Northern, but WVU is my first choice since I'm from WV and that's where I want to practice. Have been in review since 1/5...maybe next week.
I'm not sure if being pooled is the same as waitlisted or not, but it does beat an all out rejection. Hope everything works out.

Re: West Virginia 2011
Hopefully you hear something soon. As for Ohio Northern and Dayton, don't even consider attending these 2 without massive money. The are both incredibly overpriced, and there are a number of schools in Ohio that have much better placement. Ohio Northern is located in the middle of nowhere and Dayton is a festering hellhole. A friend of mine works at the Air Force base and has a good number of Dayton JD's unable to find legal work and getting hired/trying to get hired as contract specialists. While it is a good job starting at 48k and work 40 hours a week (plus the federal government pays 60k of loans) he said they are inundated with resumes and you only get an interview if you know someone who works in that specific department. In other words, Wright-Patterson AFB is a job that these kids are praying for. He knows a bunch of Dayton law grads with huge loans and either unemployed, or some lucky ones who landed legal jobs that make 40k. 40k isn't bad with 40-50k in loans, but these kids are coming out with 100k plus in debt.mtnr wrote:I was sort of right...was accepted to University of Dayton today. Anyway, I'm in review right now too, just applied a little later. Nice to hear something soon.

When did you go into review? Maybe you won't have to wait that long. And for what it's worth, now I'm waiting for my info packet and to get to the Class of 2014 website, since that appears to be where they post additional info.

Re: West Virginia 2011
98% sure. I need to finish my FAFSA (which means we need to finish our taxes). But right now I live in the southern part of the state, about 3 hrs away. My wife is currently looking for a job in the area and we are getting our house ready to sell. But both of our families are in Clarksburg, so it won't be as difficult a transition as it could be. Right now just trying to iron out the fine details.

Congrats. I have lived in Morgantown a long time, and if you have any questions about the area feel free to ask.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
