Yeah, my JR1 was quite crappy... I doubt it matters a whole lot though, you probably have to be borderline and say something awful.
Credited.. mine wasnt crappy but definitely iffy. On another note, anyone planning(or a current student w/ experience) on doing cross-registration(specifically w/ HBS)?

The ASWs are March 5-7 and April 16-18.

The standard username seems to be firstinitiallastname.jd14 (example: jdoe.jd14), but you need to claim your account first with an assigned claim code to set your password, which means you will need to wait until you actually have access to the admissions "binder."

Me definitely. JR started off with a really unexpected question that completely threw me off guard, I rambled and "uh"-ed for two minutes, ended with "yeah, so that's about it I guess" and was distracted by the awfulness of my answer for the rest of the interview. I thought my chances were completely ruined and beat myself up over it for a month before the acceptance call.

Conclusion: crappy (even really crappy) JR1 ≠ no JR2.

You say that like it is a bad thing; I suspect mentioning Law & Order re-runs is what saved the interview, which is to say Law & Order got you into HLS.

In hindsight I should have pulled a "remember that episode..."

GO BEARS! We're actually pretty well represented at HLS so I'm not too surprised. Super proud though!

Greetings from a fellow in the Class of 2014. I'm doing a JD/MBA and am currently in my first year at the B-school, but I'll be in your class next year and I'm really excited to get to know you all!

Ok, I think Im 90% sure Im going to end up at Harvard.

I showed my profs that wrote my LORs my admissions letter today and they completely lost it. One, a UVA Econ PhD, exploded with, and i quote, "holy shit, you are going to be on the supreme court." It was nuts how excited they were. I go to a standard tier 4 state school so Im the best placement they've ever had.

Also, got to "drop the H-bomb" in a job interview for the first time today. Likely wont get the job b/c Im leaving for law school so soon but it def put the thought into the interviewers mind.

I got one from Dean Minow and one from someone in admissions. Did you already get those? If not, I imagine you will soon. They weren't about me or my application specifically. They just said congratulations and to contact them with any questions. Oh, and to sign up for a listserv on Harvard news/events!

+1 Got the same emails. I set up an autoforward to my gmail account so I don't have to compulsively check the harvard email.

Also, is anyone going to email Minow and ask a question? I think it would be funny to see if she responds.

Ehh the packet isn't super exciting, def no michigan, and the online ebinder isn't up yet.

But yea, still in undergrad here with finals coming up. For some stupid reason I decided to take an extremely time consuming and somewhat difficult upper-level genetics class and that impending final is currently ruining my life. Only 2 weeks until graduation though so that's good... downside is that now I have to somehow find a bearable job for 6-7 months.

I hate to be that guy, but has anyone read the Harvard 2010 EIP thread. A little discouraging, to be honest. Just seemed like a lot more people being unable to secure offers than I had expected, and the complaints about the grading scheme are a little troubling. Any thoughts? Any Harvard students want to shed some light on how things are looking?

Hey, I'm in Korea too. No packet for me either, sigh. Thank god I graduated last summer. ;) Of course, I'd rather be at school than at my job... orz

It seems like a lot of the people that stuck out focused on tougher markets, like DC and CA. I also wonder how many people counted on getting a job through OCI and did not do things like contacting firms not involved with OCI early. This quote was very interesting
It turns out that there were hardly any firms at EIP interested in the bottom part of the class. Yet such firms clearly exist, because HLS students do get private employment, albeit after a lot more anxiety that is necessary.
So many of us many not find success through OCI, but that does not mean we cannot find success on our own.

upper-level genetics class definitely sounds ominous :o
but congrats on your impending graduation!

good thing i still have one more semester to go and don't have to worry about getting a job
with only 6-7 months, a job probably means an internship or volunteer work?
I've also heard there are big bucks to be made teaching LSAT as a private tutor

ah and I just contacted philat87 who actually turned out to be a friend of a friend
this is all very exciting.......so many distractions luring me away from studying for my finals...

+1. I'd be curious to hear what the employment landscape looks like for Harvard grads as someone who is still sitting on the fence about going $200k in debt when there are cheaper options.

Let the gunning for Minow's affections begin!

I would guess that she has lots of staff to screen her emails, and probably even respond to a fair number of them.

In any case, it would have to be a damn good question! Haha.

I know a handful of Harvard Law students (Of course, one of them is a 1L, so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt.), and aside from the usual useful things (interview skills, work experience, etc.), they seem to feel that avoiding Low Passes is pretty important--I guess it gives employers an easy way of removing a few resumes from the pile? Luckily, only about 8% of each class receives LP's, at least according to the "old" curve, so it's not too troubling. Still, it'd be nice if Harvard, like Yale, didn't have Low Pass at all.

The OCI threads on TLS should not be a big consideration. They are always ridiculous. People start freaking out and declaring they are getting no callbacks wayyy too early then this spirals into more ppl freaking out. Next come the flames, people coming saying stuff like "No callbacks with 8 Hs", "One callback with 7 H and 2 DS" despite the fact that most of them dont even attend the school. Plus, its hard to figure out how many unique posters there are due to the anonymous feature. At the end of the day, those threads tell you almost nothing. Even ITE, no one doubts that at least 70-80%+ of Harvard's entire class is getting SA offers as compared to 60-70% at CCN. Idk how that translates to total OCI participants though but if ~8-10% dont participate its not out of the question to think that 85%+ of participants get SAs via OCI. I just dont know much of anything in this world that gets more secure than that.

In regards to LP, the mandatory LP requirement was removed so right now no one really knows whats going to happen with that.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
