i think they offered some people 30k a year. Fill out your financial aid information asap- and send it in. I dont think they will do anythinig until you get your financial aid package( they start deliverfing them in mid march). then see how it is, and go from there.

Re: Syracuse 2011 applicants
you didnt send it in when you applied? I sent mine back in october, and marked that I would be sending my current tax info and fasfa form asap. Made me make an appointment to get my taxes done next friday- so at least that part is done.

Re: Syracuse 2011 applicants
I didn't apply until late december and was waiting on december LSAT. So I tossed it in a folder and decided to wait until I did taxes because it was a hectic few weeks with other applications. I filled out my FAFSA though, but am still waiting on my W2 for taxes. I will probably send it out on monday.

Re: Syracuse 2011 applicants
sounds good. Its a time consuming process, but I see why they need all of this info. I hope that I get some more money put my way ( and its guarenteed, since I wont be working during 1L), and that will make the decision much easier. I really like cuse, and would love to go there, but not for 63K/ year. I cant swing that much debt without giving myself a few ulcers, and a heart attack.

Same here, even a fewthousand more a year would be great. It was my first acceptance so my parents are really excited, but I am the downer saying fuck that offer can't afford it.

Re: Syracuse 2011 applicants
i know. A few attorneys that have been watching my cycle and i have taken a lot of advice from were really happy that I got in- but they were quick to caution the expense of the school. Have you applied to UB? its a simiilar ranked school, but a lot cheaper ( you are in state after 1L). I have a feeling its going to end up being one of those 2 schools, and while i have always had a soft spot for syracuse, I am very worried about the extra debt.

Re: Syracuse 2011 applicants
Yeah I am hoping to get in at ub with even a bit of money. I am from ny so that helps. My aunt graduated from ub and has worked in boston and now works nyc for good money, so their degree is solid if you know how to work it. She also went in the early 80s when ub was rated much higher though.

Re: Syracuse 2011 applicants
I received my package in mail today. I am admitted and very happy for this as Syracuse is one of my top choices. However, I did not receive any scholarship letter inside the orange folder. I received the admission letter, intent to register forms and bunch of financial aid information. Although I answered the two merit scholarship questions, it looks like that I did not receive anything. Based on what I read from the previous posts here, if you do not receive it in this package, it looks like that you did not get any scholarship. Is it a separate letter inside the orange folder? If I have not received one, then I am very disappointed. It is impossible to pay the sticker price with overall $200K cost to Syracuse Law.

Re: Syracuse 2011 applicants
Yes, I am. No, you don't have to pay double tuition. At least, I looked into the joint JD/MPA degree. You pay the same tuition plus you get your double degrees in 3 years. I haven't seen this kind of deal in any other school that I considered so far. This is awesome in my opinion. That is what attracted me to Syracuse given how prestigous is Maxwell School. However, how prestigous it is, it is still not worth the $200K sticker price in my opinion.calililaw wrote:is anyone planning on working towards a joint degree? does the student have to pay double tuition for this? (i emailed the SOL but no response). is a joint degree (MS in education/disabilities) worth sticker for increased career opps? Any thoughts?

Hey,
I don't go to SU law but I grew up in the area so if anyone has any questions about the central NY area, feel free to PM me.
