It seems like they have been issuing admissions decisions to mostly part time students. Or maybe that is just me looking for an excuse as to why I haven't heard back yet, haha.

Hopefully we can expect a desicion before the break. My statistics are 153 LSAT, 3.98 UPGA, 2 LOR, and 2 Evaluations, with another LOR and Evaluation on the way. I am also an instate resident and attend the undergraduate campus for Rutgers-Newark.

Yes, I am indeed a proud New Jersey resident, haha. I actually go to The College of New Jersey. My LSAT is 158 and my gpa is a 3.5. I sent in 2 LOR, but i did not do any evaluations. You said that you have another LOR and Eval on the way, I never thought of doing that. Is that something a lot of people do to boost the school's interest in you?

The third letter and evaluation were meant to be a part of the normal file. That being said, i did ask for a fourth letter in case of a waitlist or something along those lines. The bottom line is too many recommendations and evaluations cannot hurt you, rather help you.



Jerseygirl, hopefully you get in next year and if you will be commuting, take NJ Transit. It should be the fastest way to Newark and the quickest, about 45 minutes on an express.

NJCollegeStudent: Yes, I do plan to commute, but I only live about a half an hour's drive away from Newark so I don't plan on utilizing mass transit.

I have not heard back yet, however, for informational purposes. Submitted on 10/14/2010 and File Complete as of 11/04/2010 and counting.

They waitlisted you with a 155 and a 3.13? I thought those were the medians at Rutgers-Newark.

According to the dean of admissions, the LSAT media for Rutgers Newark is a 159. I can't remember the median gpa.

It certainly has risen from the past few cycles, as they are moving up the list.

Does anyone know their policy on multiple LSATs? According to the profile on TLS they average them, but I didn't know if this was outdated info. Basically, I got accepted with a modest scholarship (I'm in-state), but I was hoping for more :-/. My GPA is 3.99, but I took the LSAT twice. The first time went horribly, but for the second time I increased my score 13 points. My new LSAT score is above 75%, but the average of the two is around median.

So, based on my second score (wrote an addendum, btw) and my GPA I'd expect more money, but based on the average score and my LSAT more money may be harder to get. I am hoping to gain some more leverage once I get more decisions from other schools as well.

Does this seem possible? Is it possible to bargain with R-N for more money? I'd love to attend, but it's going to be hard without more scholarship money :-/.

I asked about this too and the official answer I got was that they "place more emphasis on the higher score." It isn't a terribly specific answer, but it seems to me that they no longer average the scores.

Guys, if R-N was the best school you could get into, take that as a sign that law probably just isn't your thing. My good friend Mark Greenbaum is a 2005 R-N grad and hates the place w/ a passion:

Think long and hard before wasting money on a TTT like R-N. It's also located in a filthy, dangerous ghetto. I interned years ago at Essex County Counsel on MLK Blvd. and my co-intern was robbed at knifepoint in broad daylight. Another co-worker was carjacked and pistol-whipped.

I love people who tell others what to do with their lives. Listen, I get it. Everyone on TLS gets it. But you're telling me that I should definitely turn down R-N when it will cost me $10,000 a year?

Make no mistake: Newark is a dangerous, filthy sewer with one of the highest crime rates in the entire US. Funniest of all is that the lazy Newark cops won't even follow up on this!
And yes, even 10 K a year is too much to waste on a TTT like R-N. How happy are you going to be when you're a licensed attorney begging to work for FREE at the AG's office? Ditto for DA office and legal aid- budget cuts/hiring freezes at all those places too.
