So once we go complete, how long until we get a decision? I fell in love with the school/area when I visited so once I get my decision, it'll be such a relief.

Last year, if I remember correctly, they sent out a ton of decisions on Dec 2-4, and then it seems like they came in waves for a while. No idea if it will be like that this year, but its the best information we have.

since BU does not have a recommended length for the resume, any value in throwing in an extra volunteer position that I otherwise would omit? It seems that it might be odd to have a resume that is one page and 2 lines, but the application consistently asks for any and all jobs (paid or unpaid).

DId you play with the margins, I believe you are allowed to play with the margins on resumes. It might look unorganized to have a page and 2 lines.

yes I did, still no luck. the position really doesn't bring that much to the table (brief volunteer job) but I'm just trying to follow directions and it seems like the application values work experience because of it

applied: 11/5
Received an email today: complete/going to review 11/15
sheesh that seemed long. since they do not call and there is no status checker, I guess we just prowl and stalk our poor mailman.

They called applicants last year. From reading the BU thread, they started calling over Thanksgiving break.

That'd be a *fantastic* phone call to get while sleeping off the tryptophan haze.

I think they'd only call applicants who applied earlier in the cycle during the Thanksgiving break. I'd figure those of us who applied late October/early November would have to wait until at least mid December. But it would be great to get such a prompt response.

If they don't call, you should eat your way into a tryptophan mini-coma, which will help speed the passage of time.

another question: when people say you should always do the "optional" essays, are they referring to the type such as #27 on the BU app? It seems to just be a diversity statement to me, but is this one that should no doubt be completed?

I can't call them until 3 weeks have passed since my app was received. They say to allow up to 3 weeks but at the same time, I'm seeing lots of people on here go complete who applied when I did.

So yea, I'm stuck till the end of November... waiting to go complete.

I wouldn't freak out. From LSN, only 4 out of 30 people who have applied since 11/2 have gone complete. I just seem to be an outlier in that I applied in the 7th and have gone complete. There's tons of people who applied before you who haven't gone complete yet.

I applied super early, and it still took me several weeks to go complete. Hang in there!

This.

Also, since once your file is complete, it is in line to be reviewed. Thus, it may take a while to go complete.

Thank you guys! I'll try to destress from all these darn status checkers. It's unfortunate that BU doesn't have one.
