I just checked and I have the same. To me it sounds more like they are just holding us until they review more applications.

Ah, sorry to hear that. Now might be a good time to prepare a letter of continued interest. I know they accepted several people off the waitlist last year. In fact, one of my classmates was prepared to attend a T3 before she got admitted in the summer.

Do you know if htere is a difference between regular and preliminary waitlist from the past cycles?

I'm afraid I don't know, but I'm guessing it's like being in reserve for a short period of time.

Yeah, we found out just in time to have to wait through the weekend. Did you get an email saying your status was updated? I didn't and ISIS still says in progress, so I'm thinking that it's just a hold until they decide what to do with us.

I don't see anything on last years thread about it... but acceptances came out last year before anything else. It is a bizarre thing! I want to make that phone call haha.

Still quiet. I think it's still early for status checkers to change. I think people were mentioning status updates between 4-6 pm. correct me if i'm wrong

Okay I called! A "preliminary waitlist" is different from a normal waitlist because preliminary waitlists could be accepted anytime between now and March 1st. A normal waitlist wouldn't get their decision until after March 1st. So... there ya go !

Okay I called! A "preliminary waitlist" is different from a normal waitlist because preliminary waitlists could be accepted anytime between now and March 1st. A normal waitlist wouldn't get their decision until after March 1st. So... there ya go !

I'm just below the 25th GPA but very close to the 75th LSAT (a bit above median).

I got "preliminary waitlisted". I applied on September 3rd. My LSAT is at the median and my GPA is right in between the median and 75th. But, I am out of state and that has an impact on their decisions.

I haven't heard previously that out of state matters? I'm OOS also.

From what I understand, Iowa has a "strong preference" to have every class be right around 50% Iowa residents... So it definitely gives Iowa applicants an edge.

I sent in my application for residency today, I hope they grant it! I was born in Iowa City, and have spent my entire life (including high school and undergrad) in Iowa. I just moved to Seattle, WA in May to work for a year before going back to school. I'm hopeful, though, since both of my parents still live in Iowa.

Anyone else had a similar experience to mine? What was the residency decision for you?

I believe I got a decision (but don't know what it is yet).

My status checker now says:
Current Status: Complete
Current Status Date: 11/22/2010
Decision Status: Decision Rendered
Decision Status Date: 11/22/2010

Before today it read something like:
Current Status: Under Review
Current Status Date: 10/19/2010
Decision Status: Complete
Decision Status Date: 09/15/2010

I've got nothing listed under mailings and I didn't get an email or a phone call (don't know how Iowa notifies people). Numbers in my profile, I'm out of state, too, so here's to hoping they like us OOSers
