Re: George Mason 2011 Applicants
That's what common sense tells me. However, I'm just not very impressed by GMU. AU WCL, in my opinion, has way better professors and facilities. Not to mention that they have wayyyy more alumni in DC and around the country.
Again, we'll see what happens. I'd love to get into GMU and I'd probably end up going.

I'll hopefully get in and have this tough decision for me too if/when I don't get into BU/GW/GULC. I also applied to UNH because they have "IP cred" and I could get significant $$ there... but they're TTT so probably not.gdane5 wrote:That's what common sense tells me. Nobody in this thread cares about your perception of the GMU and AU facilities and faculty. Take it to Admissions Board if you want to rip the school or seek out the 1000s of other GMU vs AU threads. This thread is not made for that.gdane5 wrote:That's what common sense tells me. However, I'm just not very impressed by GMU. AU WCL, in my opinion, has way better professors and facilities. I wanted to get a little feedback relating to my concerns.

A lot of hits on the GMU 2010 graph today (LSN). I think we only had 1-2 as of yesterday.
Edit: A lot of the admits appear to be shoe-ins.

I think the admits have more to do with early submission than relative strength.3|ink wrote:A lot of hits on the GMU 2010 graph today (LSN). I think we only had 1-2 as of yesterday.

I'm 4/5 right now. I just heard from W&L today. Super excited about that one.

Wrt to the American vs. GMU thing:
--LinkRemoved--
--LinkRemoved--
American appears to have better income stats for the class of 2008. More people reporting, higher median and 25th percentile incomes.

Re: George Mason 2011 Applicants
That is interesting. However, considering the difference in tuition costs, I'd still say GM is the better choice. Besides, look at the unemployment % for American compared to GMU. It could just be that GMU students are beating out American students for the lower paying jobs. That could explain the unemployment and median salary differences.

I'm still waiting on GW, GMU and Fordham. Excited so see what happens!
Blink, are you sure you read those charts correctly? Maybe I read them wrong? It seems as if though you have it backwards.

~35% of people reported their income stats for GMUgdane5 wrote:Thats great! Congratulations.queenlizzie13 wrote: Yup

~47% of people reported their income stats for American.
Median salary for GMU = $145,000 vs. Median Salary for American = $160,000
Based on this, definitely seems like American has better employment stats. Though these are from the 2008 graduating class, so there is that caveat as well.

Haha! Yea. While I'm optimistic that the state of the legal profession will improve in the next year or two, I dont think we'll be seeing numbers like these for AU for a few more years. The numbers are outdated.queenlizzie13 wrote: ~35% of people reported their income stats for GMU

Anyway, I dont want to get into an AU vs GMU debate since someone already started complaining about it.
Thanks for clarification Lizzie. Good luck with the rest of your cycle.

Re: George Mason 2011 Applicants
Unemployment stats? I'm pretty sure it says .8% for GMU and 4.5% for AMU. So of the 471 AMU grads from that time, 21.195 (21-22) were unemployed 9 months after graduation whereas of 223 GMU grads, 1.784 (1-2) were unemployed 9 months after gradutation. Am I reading it wrong?gdane5 wrote:Thats great! Congratulations.queenlizzie13 wrote: Yup

If you go by only that figure GMU looks better (in 2008). But on some of the other #'s (i.e. how many people reported their salary figures and the median salary - American looks better).
But again, it would be better to look at more recent figures.

Am I the only person who saw this thread and immediately wondered why there is a university named after someone from "24?"
There should be a Jack Bauer University.

George Mason is one of the most important founding fathers. There's a ton of things in N. Va named after him.Adjudicator wrote:Am I the only person who saw this thread and immediately wondered why there is a university named after someone from "24?"
