Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
I got my Under Review email, like, a week ago. I'm at 166/3.63 in-state and want to get in so bad I could vomit.
As a correlary, I actually had quite a positive experience with their admissions department. I didn't want to call because of how much their emails seemed to discourage it, but I really needed to find out the status of my residency form (I had to submit the long form because I recently moved back in-state). I called and left a message, and they called back within a day to give me the good in-state news. It was a day after that phone call that I got my Under Review email. I wonder if it just takes a polite, non-aggressive, non-primary-application related phone call to get you on their radar...
Good luck, folks. See you on the flip side.

Your chances of getting in are really good since you have in state designationlvsmithmarsh wrote:I got my Under Review email, like, a week ago. I'm at 166/3.63 in-state and want to get in so bad I could vomit.

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
It's so quiet over here! Where are all the UNC folks?
Anyone have any idea about scholarship $$ at UNC? I know with their in-state tuition (and based on LSN), it's pretty unlikely, but UNC seems to be underrepresented on TLS and LSN, so I thought I'd see if anyone had additional info...
UNC's my top choice, and if I get in (even with in-state), $$ would really, really help. I'm poor.

From what I can tell, money pretty much seems to be reserved for URM's and people with outstanding numbers (170+ LSATs).lvsmithmarsh wrote:It's so quiet over here! Where are all the UNC folks?

If I recall correctly from last year, I seem to remember that when UNC did send people scholarships, they basically stated something to the effect of "Do not even dare to try to negotiate with us or ask for more money, because you won't get any."
UNC likes to play "hard to get," I guess.

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
For sure. I finally found last year's topic (http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... hapel+hill) and the decisions are one big tease. A few folks with phone calls the week before Christmas and then auto-admits the first week of January... no status checker... admonishments not to badger the admissions office... total vomit.MattThiessen wrote:From what I can tell, money pretty much seems to be reserved for URM's and people with outstanding numbers (170+ LSATs).lvsmithmarsh wrote:It's so quiet over here! As an in-stater, you are an auto-admit with those numbers... unless your last name is Manson or something. For sure. Barbie, we OOS are like the impure scum of the earth to UNC. They surely won't let us know we are waitlisted at least until February.Barbie wrote:Week before Christmas= now!lvsmithmarsh wrote: For sure. For what it's worth, it looks like there were quite a few OOS admits in the first round of applicants (at least according to last year's thread).Barbie wrote:Psht. Speak for yourselfMattThiessen wrote:

They never did status checkers before I don't think. So I guess this is nice. Anyway, mine now says "Application complete, under review 12/13"

AUUGH. Can they tease us anymore? Why status checker now? Why? Why?
Status checker dated 12/21.
Do we think this means they'll release any decisions this week?

Yeah man, quite the heartbreaker. UNC alum here. I saw them win last year in Carmichael in what was a great game. Hoping for a similar, but more convincing, result. We're making good progress I think.
