Re: USC 2011
Pretty much, yes. And I absolutely do not mean that as a knock on the USC viewbook- it's very nice and much, MUCH nicer than most of the ones I have (esp. Wash U). But Cornell's is on an entirely different level.r6_philly wrote:What? I absolutely love the USC book. Does that mean the Cornell one is even better? I shall go order one now.Arbiter213 wrote:Yah I reread mine and noticed that on the one they sent me. I disagree it's a cool viewbook though- compared to Cornell's for instance, it's pretty lame.Burgstaller04 wrote:I just ordered and got the USC viewbook (it's really cool btw) and it says that admissions don't start til December. I wouldn't expect much of anything for a while yet.

The more I realized my other favorites were reaches, the more I liked the Cornell viewbook. Funny. And it's true..

It's just part of preparing myself for bad news. I figure that if Cornell's the best school I get into, it's still a damn good school. I refuse to see that outcome as a defeat when it's a better outcome than thousands and thousands of others. And therefore, I really, really like their viewbook.

Yah. I like USC quite a bit too, so I'm preparing myself mentally for my matches and just completely expecting all my reaches are wastes of money- probably why I haven't sent my Penn or NU apps yet.mr_toad wrote:It's just part of preparing myself for bad news. Re: USC 2011
Well, you've got good numbers for USC and maybe Cornell too. I no longer believe in cold hard numbers being the end-all, be-all, even if they are relatively deterministic. There's just too many discrepancies on law school numbers where one person with good numbers for the school gets a 2/3 scholarship offer and then another person at both 75s gets less money. Sure, some numbers are fudged, but... whatever. It's all part of the letting go. That way, anything that's good seems like a pleasant surprise
Edit: Checked Lawschoolpredictor, you've got great numbers for both. It'll be fine. But yeah, NU is a reach for me too... and one of my very, very top choices. Loved my interview, loved my visit. Could definitely see myself there. But it'll take some luck!

Thanks for the confidence boost! Let's hope for the best- you have a better overall profile (WE, scores) han me, so if I luck out, you definitely will.mr_toad wrote:Well, you've got good numbers for USC and maybe Cornell too. Thanks. Last night I had dreams about various grammar mistakes in my PS... very disturbing, but I refuse to look at it and check. My mind if just playing with me. We'll all be fine, one way or another.

Hey all, I'm about to send out my USC app, but I don't see them ask for a resume any place. Did you all attach a resume to your USC app?

I did. USC is like Georgetown, doesn't ask for much. I say hit em with what you got.

Submitted my app a couple hours ago.
Here's hoping for a quick turnaround.

Yeah, that's what I was planning on doing, I just wanted to double-check to make sure it wouldn't look like I didn't know how to follow directions and that other people were doing it.r6_philly wrote:I sent a resume to every school.

They only mail decisions I believe, so it won't be too quick of a turnaround.Bildungsroman wrote:Submitted my app a couple hours ago. Here's hoping for a quick turnaround.
