I was told that I have a pretty good shot of getting in as a Summer starter. Can you tell me what the deposit is and how long you had to pay it once you accepted?

Sent an email expressing an interest and requesting an update, the reply was "we expect to make a handful of offers for the fall."

Edit: just realized that that's what the Waitlist Updates page says as well, so I guess this isn't news.

Yeah, except my LOCI response was "We will contact you right away if we have any news regarding your application" - so the "we expect to make offers" is definitely a step up from that.

I've written several LOCIs, the most recent one I emailed on Monday and received a response confirming they added it to my file this week. Come to think of it, I might never have received a response to the one I snail mailed?

Initial LOCI was right after I was first WL'd. March maybe?

For "LOCI" that ask for additional information, have you guys been drafting formal letters and attaching them to e-mails or simply expressing interest, providing updates and asking for updates in the body of an e-mail?

I sent formal LOCI letters to all of the schools (including Michigan) at which I was waitlisted and have a small update and would like to know if they received an additional LOR that I had indicated I was sending in my first LOCI, but I don't necessarily have enough content to write a full letter and don't want to regurgitate the "I love you for X,Y and Z" reasons that I already put in the supplemental essay and initial LOCI. Any thoughts on whether simply sending an e-mail expressing interest is appropriate or should LOCI be formal letters sent as attachments??

I was told by the admissions. It wasn't anything definite, I was just told that I was a candidate that they may be interested in for the Summer Start Program and asked if I was offered a seat would I take it. I really haven't heard anything since, and in reality I probably won't. There could be tons of other candidates they are more interested in so I didn't really put in stock in it. It was nice to hear but that's about it

Has anyone noticed that replies from the admissions staff at Michigan are by far friendlier and more personal than the replies from admissions staff at any other school?

The website says there will be a handful of offers for both summer and fall start. I'm still hopeful, especially since there hasn't been any movement for fall yet. It's surely coming soon! Although I'm honestly a bit worried Dean Z is going to take out a restraining order against me - LOCI #4 sent off this morning. Can you smell the desperation yet people?

I don't know if this will cause more grief than joy, but I just got a call from Liz Seger. She said they were still looking at a few candidates for the fall and would try to hand out decisions in the next week or two. She also said Dean Z hadn't decided how many offers to make yet.
