Re: Ole Miss c/o 2013
Maybe my application is still in circulation and therefore (since they are getting ready to leave) there would not be enough time for it to be reviewed before the meeting.
Still it seems a little misleading.
Who knows

Just a question: who else on this thread is a Mississippi resident? Ole Miss is notorious for taking in-state applicants over out-of-state, even when they have lower numbers.

I was accepted on 2/26 and got my package around the 4th or 5th of March. At the time my status checker status was "In review", so its really difficult to gauge as to what stage your application may be in.

I applied in Dec, status checker updated again on 1/21, and I still haven't heard back. ?????????? My numbers should be good enough.

Small state schools want to know why you're interested in them. You really need to communicate that interest, that they are not just one of a dozen or two schools you are applying to.boadicea wrote:I applied in Dec, status checker updated again on 1/21, and I still haven't heard back. ?????????? Also, out of state admissions (if you are out of state) are more competitive. Write a LOCI if you haven't already.

I'm in as of yesterday afternoon. Good luck everyone.
Anybody have a suggestion on where to live? I hear its next to impossible to live near the square.

Congrats! I have a small write up on the first page that may be a little helpful.Membulldog wrote:Anybody have a suggestion on where to live? I hear its next to impossible to live near the square.
Honestly, I wouldn't even recommend living near the Square if you are anything like me. On nice Spring days (like lately), you will be tempted to go sit on the balcony at the Grocery & have some cocktails rather than hit up the law library.
If you are looking for a 1 bedroom, good luck. These are rare and outrageously priced in Oxford.

I got a phone call from Ms. Barbara Vinson around 4:30 or so yesterday. Hopefully you get the call next Thursday!

Same here, I got a phone call. I know a few people that got them also (we are all MS residents- so maybe they just called in-state applicants).
I feel like all decisions have been made at this point. Packets are being mailed, and accepted students day is next Friday, April 9.

Re: Ole Miss c/o 2013
I am in China and have not received my admissions packet. I got the email for admitted students, then asked them if that meant I was admitted. They said yes (I got this on Wednesday my time), but I didn't get a response when I asked if there is anything else I need to do. Now it is past April 1st and I have seen that that was (according to the website, which appears to be out of date in places) the deadline for the seat deposit, and I am very worried. How do I pay it? Is the information on how to do that in the admissions packet that is presumably in the mail?
I am rather frustrated that I didn't get an email and my status checker didn't change when I was admitted -- I am ready to pay if someone will just tell me how.

and by the email for admitted students, I meant the one for the event. That was the first hint I had I was admitted. A little strange.

Re: Ole Miss c/o 2013
Got my waitlist letter yesterday and I'm a little disappointed (but I had a sub-3.0 gpa and Ole Miss seems to favor GPA). Nonetheless, I was wondering if those anyone who was accepted would mind posting the deposit deadline?
I'm sure the waitlist-to-acceptance ratio is pretty small but I would still like to get an idea about when I will hear something (good or bad)?
Thanks

I went complete on 03/25...and received my packet several days later...it says if you were accepted before April 1st...the deposit date is 04/15...if you are accepted after April 1st it says to go by the date in your letter.

I applied kind of late first week of Feb., but I have yet to hear anything from Ole Miss. I applied to 11 schools and have heard from all but Ole Miss and Indiana. I have a seat deposit due at LSU on April 15th

I feel your pain. Ole Miss is really slow and frustrating. All hope is not lost as everyone seems to think there will be more acceptances this Thursday.Cof2013law wrote:I applied kind of late first week of Feb., but I have yet to hear anything from Ole Miss. I really hope so! I know LSU is a good school, but it will be out of state tuition for me all 3 years and Baton Rouge seemed like a rough city. Oxford seems safer to me at least. I liked the atmosphere when I went to look at Ole Miss.deadpanic wrote:I feel your pain. Ole Miss is really slow and frustrating. Anyone go to the ASD? How was it and what was discussed? Also, I am heading to Oxford this week. Does anyone have suggestions on living places to check out. I am looking into some suggestions from Deadpanic earlier in the thread. From what it sounds like I will probably need to look into getting a roommate too.

Re: Ole Miss c/o 2013
Have been considering going to Ole Miss as I got accepted a few months ago, however I just heard back from University of Colorado and was accepted (which was a huge shock given my weak LSAT score).
Does anyone have some stellar insight into the pros of going to a cheap, regionally respected T2 school over a somewhat nationally well regarded, expensive as balls T1 school? I'm from Alabama, so I'm used to the cost of living that Oxford would require. Boulder, Co...not so much as I'm not used to paying 1,000 month's rent.
Does anyone here think that Ole Miss' new law school--which should be completed by next Spring---will boost its rankings?
