UNLV 2010 waiting room..... Forum

Considering what a fuck up the Stimulus has been and how alot of that money still hasn't even been dispersed yet...I'd be skeptical.

I will be in Vegas next week. I have a suite at the MGM for 4 days and free tickets to a bunch of shows. My brother in law is the executive producer for a major show on the strip, so I get to visit Vegas in style (for free ). When I visit the campus I will certainly ask about the bankruptcy thing. I'm pretty excited to visit the school and have a week off work!

I really don't like the rooms at MGM, just fair. Go play at Palazzo. I get free rooms from them every month and it is simply wonderful because ALL of their rooms are suites. Are you going to go see "Let's Make a Deal" at the Tropicana (they have the worst rooms ever... well next to Circus Circus!)

I actually haven't even heard of "Lets Make a Deal." I don't get to Vegas very often. Since I live in Northern Ca, I normally just do my gambling at the Silver Legacy in Reno.

As far as the bankruptcy thing goes, I'm really hoping that we don't see a big tuition hike or rankings drop. I will ask someone at the school, but I doubt it will be much help. I don't think anyone at the school will say "Yeah, were fucked" when I ask about the school's financial problems. At least I have a pretty nice offer from Arizona to fall back on.

Yeah, I love hold em and I'll probably play in law school. I normally play on a weekly basis. We have a ton of card rooms in norcal.

There are a lot of reasons why I want vegas though. First off, full tuition is pretty damn nice; I would have the freedom to do whatever the hell I wanted if I could renew it all three years. Also, my wife could easily transfer to her employer's vegas branch, but they aren't in Tucson. Also, I have some connections in Vegas through my brother and sister in law, which could help my employment prospects.

Yeah I can see your dilemma. As a single guy who is 25 I wouldn't have those considerations. Thats a tough one man. Also run the risk of UNLV folding up or loosing some good teachers...good luck.

Nice. Im like 2:20 away from Mohegan Suns, 10 mintues more to Foxwoods. In the opposite direction it is 3 hours to Atlantic City. I only play 1/2 NL because I am not good enough to be semi-pro or pro. I have been playing since I was like 15, trying to get free money off the internet to play with back in the day, heh. I was going to grind hardcore @ pokerstars this winter but I was bored from the beginning and didn't want to play without focus... Now I have no time again =(.

If I go to UNLV I will probably underestimate the amount of time needed to study and end up at a casino til like 7 am some times .

Maybe the loss of professors and $$ is why they are trying so hard to get people with 160+ LSAT scores. I'm guessing they want to get what numbers up they can so that they don't slip. Whatever the reason, I'm really hoping the state doesn't go bankrupt. I really want to go

Yo! Be sure and let us know what kind of response you get from them next week. Obviously they won't break down and confess their problems to you, but the response is bound to be interesting and possibly revealing about the situation at UNLV.

For those of you who got scholarships, did they notify you in the admission e-mail, or through the mail? I got admitted via e-mail last week, but have been out of town...hoping to have a nice scholarship in the mailbox when I get back.

Scholarship information was sent with the admissions packet. There was a letter of congratulations and then a separate letter with the scholarship offer.

The e-mail was pretty generic.

2 hours? damn! I have like 5 card rooms within 1/2 hour of my house. There are also a bunch in the bay area and a shit ton of indian casinos scattered around. I don't play much cash anymore, I've been sticking with tournaments lately. We have a 2-5 no limit game at my local spot, but I only play it like once or twice a month. When I play cash, I normally just play 4-8 kill, 6-12 or 4-8 omaha. I know of a few good home games too. California has pretty liberal gaming laws, so the only time I head to Nevada is when I want to roll dice.

I was emailed, then it changed, then i got the letter.

The e-mail says you are accepted and congratulates you and then tells you more information is going to be in your acceptance letter.

I'm impressed by your spelling! My name refers to the Boston Bruins, not the UCLA Bruins. I didn't really think about this being a "college forum" before making my name.
