Yeah I'm curious too PMT. Maybe not 25% but it'll be at least 15% will be posting on here in some capacity, and who knows how accurate of a lurker count we'll have over time.
I think if everyone is cordial and what not we'll be fine. There's been issues in the past of everything from grade snobbishness and whining, to politics, and I hope we can avoid that whole mess.
Just chat with prudence, people.

Forgive me if this is a gunner ish question, but is it preferable to keep TLS under wraps so as to maintain an advantage or is that wrong?Fiero85 wrote:Yeah I'm curious too PMT. Re: WUSTL c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
Depends what you mean by "under wraps". IMO it's not like a secret, or a secret that needs to be kept for an "advantage". Anyone who uses the internet can find us and join in.
That being said, plenty won't find it or won't care, and it rarely if ever will come up in a normal conversation unless you steer it that way purposefully. So I don't think I'll end up talking about it to non TLsers much at all because it'd be odd to bring TLS up randomly.
(no experience answer warning - might be way off base)

by the time exams come around, most of your classmates will have whatever outlines/practice exams you got your hands on. And i'm sure plenty of people will lurk the threads here.workaholic82 wrote: Forgive me if this is a gunner ish question, but is it preferable to keep TLS under wraps so as to maintain an advantage or is that wrong?
Covering up TLS or hoarding resources doesn't really give you an advantage. For example, the things I post here as far as advice is pretty macro. There's a whole deeper layer of strategy that you just can't get from perusing the threads. I generally don't bother posting truly substantive stuff. If anything it's by PM.
I'll give u an example. I always tell u guys to synchronize with your professors..take practice tests...etc...Okay so great. Now what? How do you discern what's important and what's not? How many words do you use divert into an exam issue? How deeply or widely do you take your analysis? How do you even structure/phrase an exam answer? How do you prioritize your time across multiple topics within a course? Which issues give rise to other issues? Etc... etc..
There are so many deeper and more micro issues that none of us will ever post about on this forum. Because it's too complicated and that kind of coaching is best executed in a face-to-face environment.
There's never a secret fact about a prof that will change everything just by virtue of knowing it.
Your classmates can lurk TLS all they want. But it won't give them a magical edge...and it won't hurt your chances of getting a good grade. Any schmuck can Google debt numbers, placement stats, and apartment prices. And most 2Ls could tell you the generic advice you find on here. The true value derived from TLS--in my opinion--is establishing rapport with 2Ls and 3Ls early.

Yeah good luck with the no whining thing. If we are saying 15% of the class are known TLSers, then we can't all be in the top 10% if my math is correct.Fiero85 wrote:Yeah I'm curious too PMT. I won't whine if I'm top third. Above that is great obviously, but anything above that I'll accept graciously.LET'S GET IT wrote:Yeah good luck with the no whining thing. Re: WUSTL c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
Agree scotti. I'm not greedy, I'll gladly take top 1/3. But I am all for the no grade snobbishness. Some of us will be towards the top of the class, some won't. Doesn't make you better than anyone. No politics sounds great as well. That's not any better than someone being snobbish because they go to GULC or cornell and we go to WASHU imho.scottidsntknow wrote:I won't whine if I'm top third. I hear going to WashU is a plus on tinder in stl. Would it be pretentious to put that on your tinder profile?
