I went to a UG that some would say "oh wow cool" and others would say "huh never heard of it."

The kind of people I know who went to, e.g., HYP-type UGs and then later get a similarly good grad program have been around the block and know better than to go the "New England. Mass. near Boston, but outside of Boston. CB actually. oh I'll just tell you" route.

the very fact that it's from 30 rock suggests it's comical enough to get satirized.

Meh. I know "I went to school in Connecticut (Yale) and I went to school in jersey (Princeton). Ppl. Annoying AF IMO.

This may or may not be how I actually announced my JS2 on FB. I'll never tell.
I really hope you did.

My JS1 is this week. I'm finally reading through the interview thread.

If anyone knows, obviously.

Or are most of the waitlists non-JS1s.
Well the 850 includes JS1->WL->Accept. Not sure how many of 350 are JS1->WL->silence as opposed to JS1->reject.

i could be mistaken but my understanding is that there are 850 ppl admitted by the time the waitlist comes out - so 850 admits who have all never been WLed. then, as people head to new haven, palo alto, and $CCN$ they begin to accept some people off the WL. So ultimately, I thinkk there are over 850 people accepted.

I think it's 850 total offers, so including those given to people on the waitlist.

This is correct. About 300 admits from the 850 will go elsewhere.

again just speculating, but it seems like in any given year there's variability in how many people elect to go to H rather than YSCCN/PhD what have you. So they couldn't have total admissions set at 850 without the size of the entering class fluctuating year by year.

Has there been a suggestion that total admissions are "set" at 850? I'm pretty sure we're just using that as an approximate value based on previous years.

The # of people wait-listed at HLS isn't available anywhere, correct?

Seeing that admits are pretty consistently around 850 a year, I wonder if the # of applicants who get wait listed is also consistent year-to-year, or if it's more random depending on the applicant pool.

Two JS2 days have come and gone since my JS1. Is it fair to say the ship has sailed?

Disclaimer: I may just be saying this because at least two JS2 days have come and gone since my JS1.

A) Plenty of people have received JS2s not on the first JS2-date following their JS1.

B) While many "lock" type candidates have been accepted, not that many "borderline" candidates have been accepted, and we know they need to accept people below medians.

C) It's only February 10, so even if they've been sitting on your application a while, it doesn't mean there isn't time for them to accept you as they see how the rest of the class shapes up (remember, they are accepting February LSATs.)

D) If you haven't been rejected yet, you are still in the game (though, for the purposes of your own sanity, it might be worthwhile to start lowering expectations a bit.)

Noap - because if you say that, it means that a lot of our ships are already halfway around the world at this point, and we don't even realize it yet :/

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
