Padmapper and Craigslist. Search Craigslist by neighborhood.
A few other great neighborhoods for students are Demun, the Moorlands, and just west of campus before you hit downtown Clayton.

After visiting GWU, W&L, and W&M, my decision has become a lot tougher. All these schools have such great qualities to them, this is an extremely tough decision.

Ive been living here (debaliviere place) for over a year and didnt realize the name of the neighborhood is called debaliviere place lolPunisha20 wrote:I think the name you're looking for are the Debaliviere Place and Skinker-Debaliviere neighborhoods. The "West End" neighborhood is north of these two place, across Delmar. I would recommend Debaliviere to anyone, there are a lot of great apartments for very reasonable prices.ehumanzada wrote: Forest park (west end?) dont really know if there is a neighborhood in town called "forest park" but im assuming it is the areas surrounding the largest public city park in the u.s. i live a block or so north from the park and i highly recommend looking at the area called the west end whih is north of forest park south of delmar west of kings highway and east of debaliviere. This block of neighborhood has tons of cheap apartments and most of the residents are young professionals or grad school students. If you are living with your significant other i highly recommend this area.

I just finished my scholarship negotiation letter, taking the advice of someone and trying to "hardball them". Anyone wanna take a look and give some critiques? I'm not really sure how a letter like this is supposed to work so I just kinda took a swing at it. My writing tends on the effusive side naturally and I think it shows. I'm just hoping it's not too over the top for their liking.
EDIT: I'd also welcome reading anyone else's letter.

If it is like mine, you should receive an offer in another 2-3 BD.

Anyone want to give a compelling argument for WUSTL in regards to hitting NYC/East Coast Markets without ties?
Externships?
Low cost of living allowing job interviews 2nd year?
Buller? Buller?

Homeland: For east coast, you have both the DC and the NYC externships, which are seemingly more hands-on and guided by faculty and undertaken with a group of other Wash U students. But for your purposes the new Semester-In-Practice program might be best, if those don't work out. Try to find more about it; it's like setting up your own apprenticeship/internship in whichever region you wish to make connections and form ties.

Are you asking about degree portablility? Is WUSTL slightly less "national" than some other schools? Well, depends on the schools in question.Homelandsagreatshow wrote:Anyone want to give a compelling argument for WUSTL in regards to hitting NYC/East Coast Markets without ties?

Or are you asking whether you could possibly obtain a job outside of St. Louis/MidWest/Chicago after WUSTL? The answer to that would be yes--check out the employment stats and the Career Center list of firms that interview at WUSTL. I am from CA, and while I don't think it's going to be a cakewalk to return, if that's what I decide to do (I have ties to CA, which is not completely analogous to your question) I know that WUSTL is well-regarded on both coasts. Does that mean I may need to do some networking and OCI may not be perfectly on target for me? Sure. True of any school that has higher regional placement but a "national" reputation which is not quite on par with T14 (e.g. USC, Illinois, Notre Dame, Minnesota, Emory, etc.).
If you are dead-set on a particular East Coast market, would a school in that market be a better choice for you? Possibly, depending on strength of school and the specific market/type of job you're seeking. You may want to list your specific destination, job type and repost question in the other WUSTL thread where the current students (as opposed to admits) lurk more often.
Good luck with your law school decision process.

Given the amount of acceptances we've seen this week, I'm really predicting the waitlists and rejections will come out tomorrow.

I'm not sure the two (acceptances and WL/rejects) are related.wannabelawstudent wrote:Given the amount of acceptances we've seen this week, I'm really predicting the waitlists and rejections will come out tomorrow.

Oh I agree, I meant more they're making the final decisions regarding their applicant pool. Just at these and you see a slight uptick in late march of acceptances followed by the waitlist rejection blood bath.shifty_eyed wrote:I'm not sure the two (acceptances and WL/rejects) are related.wannabelawstudent wrote:Given the amount of acceptances we've seen this week, I'm really predicting the waitlists and rejections will come out tomorrow.
