In at NYU, very nice!!! Who gives a crap about GW when you're in at CCN?????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Mostly I just wanted to see a nice pretty row of acceptances on LSN, but no, I can't say I'm terribly upset. I got super impatient and checked the admitted students website and was able to sign in. This had better not be a glitch, because, if it is, I'm gonna be mad. USPS needs to hurry up with my letter.
It very well could have been a YP for GW.
What is YP, exactly? I keep seeing this everywhere.

Yield protecting. It's when a school denies you or waitlists you to protect their yield rate, which is the percentage of admitted students that matriculate. Basically it means they assume you will go somewhere better and they aren't being seriously considered so they're going to protect their yield rate.

Yield protection. Some law schools do this to overqualified applicants b/c they know from experience that the student's number range will likely be accepted at much better schools (like you did...) and they don't want to waste a spot on what is likely to be a non-attending student.

I don't think URMs should be considered for title "baddest reverse splitter on the block" due to their incredible bonus in admissions!

But still, NYU with his stats, even as a URM, is still amazing.

Whoops. She.
Sorry.
Also does LGBT really count for something in the admissions cycle? Honest question.

I believe it's a factor when considering candidates for the sake of diversifying a class. I don't know if it's necessarily a boost, but it usually makes for a good diversity statement addendum.

I honestly don't know how much it counts, but I didn't consider schools that aren't LGBT friendly. And I did write an addendum touching on it.

I avoided Notre Dame after a really uncomfortable conversation at one of the LSAC Forums.

Uhm. So I go to Michigan, and I don't know how much any of you pay attention to what goes on here, but our student govn't president is the first openly gay president. He was getting harassed by the assistant attorney general of Michigan because he was pushing a gay agenda. Of course, shitface went to Ave Maria.
So even if I decide I were going to apply to Ave Maria (in some alternate world) I wouldn't.
Re: Hastings
I just didn't really want to go to California. =/

You don't like California? Have you ever been here? :O OK...
Re: the Asst. Attorney General vs. UMich student president guy... I remember that story, how appaling. The AG office shit-canned that dude in short order. I am kinda surprised that he hasn't been disbarred yet.

It's just not my favorite. I don't dislike it. I can't explain it.
As for him being disbarred, we can only hope. I think Chris handled the situation with great poise though. He gained a lot of support here based on how he handled himself.
