Anyone want to call the office and ask if calls have started going out?I feel like they would have twitter'd if they were starting to make calls.

Yeah that guy is bullshitting. No twitter and nothing reported on LSN (there is a guy from last cycle who didn't correctly edit).

I got my call at 10.48 AM, call them and ask when calls go out. was on my break from work when i posted, sorry i didn't stay on longer. ED, above medians for gpa/ lsat.

In! Got the call at 10:48 PST, but slept through it (I work evening shifts and rarely get up before noon). I had a somewhat disastrous cycle last year, so I'm fucking ecstatic about this acceptance.

Perhaps its time for unsubstantiated speculation.

It's been a strange day.... we had some momentum early in the day which really dropped off... Things are so silent now... and looking at lsn - this can't be the end of EDs... right?? According to lsn only 1 URM was accepted as well as a very modest portion of applicants - surely that can't the end of it...

The twitter does say the ED calls were going to "start" today.... maybe they'll be doing what they did before... torture the rest of us until Monday....

Perhaps the weekend and the rest of Monday they can finish preparing the mass emails of rejection/deferments/& waitlists.

I think what takes so much time is not the acceptances, but the rest of these other decisions... I imagine they would want to get all the loose ends tied before they finish making the acceptances - or their office will be flooded with hysterical applicants. Once they get done accepting people - they'll want to send out the emails immediately afterward... That's what I'm thinking.............. My guess is the rest of us will know on Monday!

Wasting time on LSN and it looks like they have records of 10 EDs from last year and 3 were accepted. So far we have 8 ED acceptances from the first day of ED calls. I'm thinking ED admits are going to be 3x-4x what they were last year. This means a lot tougher cycle for us RDs.

I agree with you lsnate... I think it'll be tougher for everyone... I'm beginning to think that a lot of the EDs are not decided 100% yet... especially if U Chicago is planning on breaking protocol so much as to wait until the end of the month to determine our fates (I'm right in thinking that this would be the first time that's ever happened... right?). They've already began reviewing RD applicants - my guess is there are a number of ED applicants that they would like to admit, and would have been admitted in previous years when the # of applicants weren't so inflated. However, because of the small class size which is admitted each year - I bet they have a certain or rough number/percentage of ED applicants (that core guaranteed, must attend, class) they accept each year... Because of the increase in applications and qualified applicants, they probably want to accept a larger percentage/number of these "guaranteed students" then prior years... If this is the case... I really believe that a number of ED applicants are being considered as if they are "special" RD applicants- and some of you RDs that applied early, are being considered like an ED.

Otherwise, why else would the ED applications not get determined until the end of the month..? We know that they are finished "reviewing" our applications as of the 16th (maybe the 17th??? according to twitter). Obviously they like a lot of us ED applicants (I hope) and are perhaps going to break their traditional cap they had established before... but they probably want to give you RD people a fair shake in this admissions process - so before they break with protocol by admitting us ED people - they will be reviewing and making decisions on you RD applicants alongside us. I have a strong feeling that the fate of the ED and some of you RD applicants, which applied early, are tied together.

I do agree that the competition for the remaining slots, after ED and early RD applicants are determined, will probably be quite a bit more difficult - but I'm thinking that right now - being an ED or an early RD applicant is the best place to be - considering the other options.

Needless to say, all this is speculation and is without foundation - but it is a bit therapeutic for me.. so it'll probably be best if you ignore it... yeah.. probs!

I work at a restaurant so I just got back.

Nothing for me, no call or hold/WL/reject email. I'm assuming they'll do more calls on Monday and Tuesday and then wait until after Xmas to send out hold/WL/reject notifications. It'll be a long two weeks to say the least.

I expect that Chicago will be the last school to notify me; normally, they're quite methodical.

Yeah - they review your application in the order they become complete... If you applied and your file went complete two months ago --- you should be going under review very shortly...

If you look at the u chicago admissions twitter page - they said on the 16th, the same day they were finishing their review of ED files, that -
"RD applicants: Still reading RD files too, of course. Currently reading files completed before and up to around mid-October."

These RD applicants, since they're being considered at the same time as us ED folks - SOME will be hearing some news about the same time as us... IMO - by the new year. Again speculation.. but I think it makes sense.

Complete opposite. I was a nervours wreck yesterday, and today I am depressed. I know I have great alternatives, but damn. I'm glad its going well for you dude.
