Re: Boston College c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Since we've been talking about rankings - does anyone have any guesses for where BC will be at in the ATL rankings when they're released? In the 2016 rankings they were placed #16 just below NYU (#15) and one higher than BU (#17). From the year before they had no movement.
I know there's debate on the methods used by all ranking systems, ATL certainly included, but either way it's good to see a favorable shift in the USNWR and for them to be #16 on ATL's rankings! Hopefully there's favorable movement on the ATL side of things.

Re: Boston College c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I doubt it. ATL really has them at what they should be ranked. BC doesn't have the ability to keep climbing, not at the moment. Most of the T-14 are rightfully above BC, plus a couple of the super regionals (UT, UCLA). BC is an excellent law school! I think USNWR needs to reflect that more accurately, but I think BC is at the max it will be able to achieve on ATL.Attewode wrote:Since we've been talking about rankings - does anyone have any guesses for where BC will be at in the ATL rankings when they're released? So I'm starting to be a little panicked about the BC timeline. I've been complete awhile but still not under review. Once people have gone under review, how quickly have you gotten a decision?

Spoke with the assistant dean on Monday, he said to expect around 15-20 days under review until you receive a decision.Legallylawyer2020 wrote:So I'm starting to be a little panicked about the BC timeline. I was waitlisted with strong softs, a 162 and a 3.8. I moved to Boston last year and work in big law in the city as a legal assistant. I'm really bitter about this tbh. Is anyone else in my position? Been depressed since the decision was made. I expected to get in with money. Is it even possible to be accepted and still get money at this point?

Any thoughts on how long it will take to go under review? I've been complete awhile now...I'm concerned about making deposit deadlines at other schools.JGPGH wrote:Spoke with the assistant dean on Monday, he said to expect around 15-20 days under review until you receive a decision.Legallylawyer2020 wrote:So I'm starting to be a little panicked about the BC timeline. Same here, but I think it was because they were just starting to give out scholarships around that timecelticsfan wrote:It took a little over a month for meLegallylawyer2020 wrote:Any thoughts on how long it will take to go under review? I'm sorry to hear about the waitlist, surprised you didn't get in with those stats. It seems BC is caring a lot more about LSAT than GPA this cycle. Definitely write a LOCI, I wouldn't say that it's impossible that you can still get in off the waitlist.lawyerly46 wrote:I was waitlisted with strong softs, a 162 and a 3.8. Failed scholarship negotiation request. Brought higher offers from a few schools, including Notre Dame and GW.

Does anyone think they might negotiate later in the cycle?

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but would the scholarship offer (if any) come in the initial physical admission letter from BC? I was accepted last week and received a small admissions packet today, but there was no mention of a scholarship.

They said their initial offer is their best offer and encouraged me to look at their employment statistics. Will probably be withdrawing my application shortly, I can't justify BC at the price I've been given.Augy1 wrote:What was their response?texas95 wrote:Failed scholarship negotiation request. $20k per year scholly, pretty much what I expected. Sucks that they aren't negotiating, I have a lot of thinking to do.

I'll let you know when I go into review as well! My stats are LSAT 75+ and GPA 25+ (I'm 8 years out of undergrad though with so hoping the GPA doesn't sink me!).Bunbury wrote:You and I are on a similar timeline and possibly even similar statsLaw2020hopeful wrote:Checking in. REALLY hope to be joining those of you that were accepted/plan to attend come Fall. App has been complete for a week but has not gone under review yet. Anyone have any insight about whether or not this is normal? My stats are good for BC (above 75th LSAT) but I'm nervous.(GPA 25<50, LSAT 75+). My app has been complete with no movement since the Feb LSAT went out. Hopefully we go into review soon with positive results! I'll let you know if I go into review. (I'm checking obsessively.)
I LOVE Boston and have some family there. I'd be thrilled to be at BC. And they're kicking butt on the new rankings - go them!
