Checking in. Submitted today. International applicant (>75 LSAT/Superior).
Looks like it would be a while before I hear anything.

A little late but, new month, new poll.
(We will revisit the last poll sometime in the Apr/May timeframe.)

Haha! I knew this was going to be dangerous. (Sat here waaaaay too long trying to figure out the right groupings and inclusion/exclusions for everyone.) To be honest, I was more worried about the "soft sciences" designation.addie1412 wrote:I resent the English/Communication groupingponderingmeerkat wrote:A little late but, new month, new poll.![]()

Point being, taking all slings and arrows.

I will always regret not attending the Engineering school at my undergrad, especially since it was one of the top in the country. I'm always a little surprised when Engineers want to go to law school; hard to understand why someone who could almost certainly find gainful employment -> MBA would bother. Well, that's neither here nor there.galeatus wrote:Damn I'm the only engineer here it seems
The real news for today is that we are now past the deadline for ED -> Hold. I think we can expect a wave of responses in the next few days for our ED candidates.

So true! After being an engineer for 8 years now, I can't believe big law folks complain about making more than 160K on any amount of hours. They don't know how made they have it.TexasENG wrote:mudiverse wrote:Fwiw I can count on one hand the number of my friends / classmates that went into engineering that are satisfied with their career. Most of us work 60+ hour weeks with little time off and limited career advancement. Essentially it's big law for half or less of the salary in the worst locations. Imagine 60-70 hours a week in a major city, it sucks but on your time off there are things to do. Now imagine that in Palymera, Decatur, Kankakee, or Midga.galeatus wrote:Damn I'm the only engineer here it seems

Amen. Coming from Big 4 tax, where you have the honor of working roughly the same amount for a 1/3 of the pay, I hate hearing them complain about big law.saf18hornet wrote:So true! I know all about that too. My wife worked audit for PwC for a few years. She never had a break from busy season, basically 2 years straight of 100+ hr work weeks, for a mid 60s salary! When she put her 2 weeks notice in, they offered her 3 full months paid leave immediately to stay. Which we turned down, best decision she ever made (besides marrying me of course!CPA-->JD wrote:Amen. Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Fair enough - grass is always greener and etc. It's getting harder to feel content with anything these days. I see so many people from my undergrad literally clawing their way into consulting when I just finished getting disillusioned about it and it feels like my meticulous career planning is becoming a pointless endeavor. For the record, I was on a plane twice a week and driving towards suburban corporate complexes in any number of states and for half big law.TexasENG wrote:Fwiw I can count on one hand the number of my friends / classmates that went into engineering that are satisfied with their career. Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Does anybody know when Northwestern is going to release their merit scholarship application? I noticed that the Need-Access site they used last year is no longer operating, and the instructions for applying for merit aid on the Admitted Students Website is outdated.
Was wondering if you guys heard anything?

Can anyone tell me the best way to prepare for online interview? Wanted to do it tomorrow, but I have a nice 4-5 hour window tomorrow where I can practice and prepare. Is that enough time?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
