I'm trying to schedule my interview now, but all the dates seem to be blacked out. Am I missing something? Do they release openings in waves or something?

Yeah, when did you receive your JS1? They generally open a set of interview slots with each wave of JS1s. Could you have waited too long to schedule it from the time you received your JS1 and all of the interview slots have passed?pigzorz wrote:I'm trying to schedule my interview now, but all the dates seem to be blacked out. Just based on observing others' posts, emails seem to arrive in the morning. I got mine around 10 AM Eastern.StringerSoprano_6062 wrote:Does anyone know a time of the day the email for js1 is normally sent out?

Excuse my obliviousness, but what has been the latest complete date to receive a JS1? I tried sifting through the content of the thread, but noticed that many people began to remove their posts lol.

My interviewer wore a tie. I would be pretty uncomfortable if I had been under-dressed. Listen to Barney Stinson, and suit up! Not doing so can only hurt you.oliverotis wrote:http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... p?t=200887WinterComing wrote:JS1! Got the email at like 3:45-ish eastern. Open times at that point were on the 19th and 20th, but by the time I figured out what my Skype username was (haven't used Skype in years), all of the times on the 20th were gone.
Also, I tried to find this info ITT but all the removed posts made me give up: What does one wear for a Skype interview? I guess it's Harvard, so suit, even if they can only see me from the chest up.
Apparently JS has explicitly stated that just a nice dress shirt is perfectly acceptable. I can't find where she said that. I think probably most wear suits but many do not. Congrats, btw!

I wore a nice button down shirt. I didn't think it was necessary to suit up. I think they said that in the Inside the black box series on their website.ObiWahooKenobi wrote:My interviewer wore a tie. @Dcc617, I'm sure you're fine - at the end of the day it could only be a small factor. Call me traditional, though - I think it's probably best to mitigate a possible issue. Most of my other interviewers (Columbia, Chicago) have all been dressed more casually. For UVA, the admissions director was dressed in business attire. It also can't hurt psychologically unless you are really, really uncomfortable in business attire (and if so, is law really the best route? I understand a lot of firms wear suits, as do the Feds). There is a reason some schools have uniforms - the structure of it generally increases confidence and eliminates distractions.Dcc617 wrote:I wore a nice button down shirt. Is this real? Which schools? Also TCR is that a button-down is totally fine, not even a small factor.ObiWahooKenobi wrote:some schools have uniformsDcc617 wrote:I wore a nice button down shirt. 'I don't know exact numbers, but more than half the urban school districts in the country have some uniform policy, it's increased this year and I suspect it'll continue to increase, since there seem to be some benefits and no serious drawbacks,'' said Mike Casserly, executive director of the Council of the Great City Schools, a Washington group that represents the nation's largest urban school districts. http://www.nytimes.com/1997/09/25/us/dr ... forms.html
Here we are in 2015 - at least 3/4 of DC public schools require uniforms. The Wire suggests it's the same in Baltimore, at least.
According to DoE, 12% nationwide. https://nces.ed.gov/programs/digest/d14 ... 233.50.asp

So I'm giving up on JS2 before Thanksgiving. I really hope that they don't make everyone wait until 2016...

I see, I thought we were still talking about law schools. Also, lol @ The Wire as evidence, but also, respect. Not sure I agree that primary/secondary school uniforms are really relevant to this discussion. I get the point about eliminating distractions, but I think if the interviewee is comfortable in a button-down, s/he wont feel distracted. I can't imagine an interviewer having any bias (even unconscious) against a button-down, and JS's explicit remarks on the subject seem to confirm that suspicion.ObiWahooKenobi wrote:A ton of public schools:oliverotis wrote:Is this real? The only thing I think might actually be worth considering--if your WE and stated goal is biglaw and you don't wear a suit, that might seem strange. The converse is also probably true (but maybe less so), i.e. if your WE/stated goal is PI and you do wear a suit. Glad we've thoroughly analyzed this

Agreed that comfort is king. If you're neutral on comfort, I'd still recommend suiting up. But I think we've established that that is my view

I submitted the first week of October. The status checker still says application complete instead of application under review. Does that mean I am not getting invited to an interview or have they just not processed my application yet?
