Waitlisted...Gpa >75th and lsat of 170. Do they care about why Penn that much? Or was it probably something else with my app? Really bummed right now...

so far i haven't heard of a single admit who didn't write it.

Penn is the YP king (well, them and UVA). Why Penn is really important to include IMO, especially if you're above a 75th.

Those who didn't write it but were WL'd can write a LOCI that waxes poetic about why Penn would be the perfect school for them.

I hope this doesn't bring you down, but I didn't write one and was admitted today. (Maybe you could write one up and send it in as a LOCI-type thing?)

ETA: your GPA is higher than mine, though, so maybe they didn't consider me a YP threat.

WL via status checker. No why penn. guess I'll get on that LOCI. lSAT slightly less than 50%, gpa slightly less than 75%.

My guess would be that all the new UR2s this week were just filling the spots vacated by people who got decisions today... Who knows how long we have to wait.

No call or movement today on status checker, still UR2 12/8. Seems like if they were gonna WL me they'd have done it today, right? Who knows...

feeling the same way...just checked again and still not waitlisted. I wrote a Why Penn but perhaps it was not convincing enough.

Several UR2 Class of 1/6 were admitted today. Maybe Classes of 1/8 and 1/9 were replacing today's admits, but there's been some rapidity in movement for 1/6's to get decisions today.

I got in today with no Why Penn as a 3.94/173. Honestly I am going the other way of wondering if my softs are so bad they do not feel the need to YP me.

GPA went up by a tiny bit in fall 2014

When people say they are "UR", it is short form for "Under Review", which is short form for "Under Committee Review." And the 1 or 2 corresponds to a date change in your "UR" status. So you would be either UR1 12/17, or UR2 12/17 (depending on if the date had changed prior or not). Hope that helps!

Is it worth sending in a Why Penn while we're still waiting to hear? I had planned on doing one earlier on and never did.
