Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
I mean, of course there are other factors other than those stats. But I imagine that the quality of the essays (including the personal statement as well as the optional ones if you included them) matter more than just whether you chose to submit one (or two or three). Writing ability is far from consistent, even among otherwise strong applicants. And of course letters of recommendation can reflect a lot as well.kek5250 wrote:scoobysnax wrote:not sure if this would really be indicative of adcoms caring because applying ED shows stronger interest than writing a few essaysokok wrote:I'd be interested in knowing what optional essays all the ed admits completed
you know
to see if the adcoms care
I think they care. People with my exact stats have been rejected and i was held. Something other than the numbers must have been different.

Round 1 JD/MBA applicants (there are 2 rounds for JD/MBA candidates) find out tomorrow so they might be finalizing those decisions today. I've been UCR since 12/3 and went complete in late October.alex.cm wrote:Let's all cross our fingers for some action today... Anyone have any status checker movement?

Are you JD/MBA?? Yeah, I'm a total mess right now. A likely decision could be literally anything from accepted with full ride at both schools to rejected at both schools. Wharton admissions is very much a black box and mylsn says that I have a 0% chance of getting into Penn even though a lot of that is yield protect/small sample size.alex.cm wrote:Are you JD/MBA?? I'm also RD. I think most of the EDers already heard back, no? Even if it was just to tell them they were being held for consideration with the RD apps.alex.cm wrote:I'm UR 12/3 as well and RD.HarvardHopeful wrote:

Honestly I doubt it- they only just made decisions on ED. It probably won't be until after the New YearJessasaurus wrote:I've been UR1 since 11/22. Does anyone know if any RDer's will hear before christmas?
feel free to tell me that I "know nothing" though

Will do - I believe last year, ED decisions came out on a Friday with RD the following Friday. I bet some RDers with early UR dates will hear back this weekZipWhenSheMoves wrote:Honestly I doubt it- they only just made decisions on ED.
