eh, I wouldn't be too worry about adcomm reading the thread even if they do. I think it is important to acknowledge that while scholarship should be a big if not the most important factor, there are other aspects to consider as well. After all, you will be spending your next three years (and most likely the last three years of being a student) at a school, go somewhere you will enjoy and would be happy. If the money is not too far apart between schools, I would say consider other factors as well.

Good thoughts JK. I kind of regretted posting that before anyone had commented.
No. Obviously upsetting adcomms in the general sense is not a concern. We need to do what's best for us, and hurting a school's feelings doesn't really matter. Upsetting adcomms specifically is obviously different, but I wasn't really speaking to that.
And I wouldn't assume anyone here is entitled. It's just the general feeling that comes across to me when reading the thread. Not from any person, but from the aggregate--myself included.
It's personal perhaps, but I get down when all the talk is of money. I'm going to take the best deal I can and make the best decision I can. That said, reading through threads of "show me the money" just puts me in a funk. I guess that's probably why I decided to write that.
(The WUSTL thread was actually much more guilty of this for a while than the ND thread ever was).
To AustinBound and others. I've contributed to this as much as anyone. I just realized it's making me feel shitty. No need to apologize or feel singled out. There are great reasons to be debt-averse, to seek the best deal, to be confident that you'll get a good offer.
Sorry for rockin' the boat, y'all.

Also, this. Thank you. (Which I knew we all knew, I just was feeling like they needed to be reiterated).kyle010723 wrote:eh, I wouldn't be too worry about adcomm reading the thread even if they do. No offense taken! We are all entitled to different feelings throughout the process

Going to law school is like buying a car (or more like a house for that price), you want to get the best deal, but also want to walk away with the car you would be happy driving.

+1. And you'll want to walk away with a car that could get you from NYC to SF with ease rather than being limited to a few hundred miles before it "breaks down".kyle010723 wrote:Going to law school is like buying a car (or more like a house for that price), you want to get the best deal, but also want to walk away with the car you would be happy driving.

sorry about the subject change but has anyone booked a hotel for ASW yet? I'm trying to find a relatively cheap hotel close to campus.
Did anyone current students in this thread attend ASW? How was it? I just booked my flights and am already looking forward to checking out the school/area.

Check with the Admission to see if they have an university rate with the Fairfield Inn across on Angela, that is probably the closest option beside Morris Inn. Out of those two, they probably have a deal in place.frank617 wrote:sorry about the subject change but has anyone booked a hotel for ASW yet? With regards to WUSTL and ND, I love both schools (with the slight edge to ND because...duh. Football). Definitely two of my top choices. However, the $$$$$ comes first. Pretty much going to go to whichever one gives me more $$$.

I submitted on 1/31 and I had an update on 2/10. Curiously, however, the message displayed on top changed from "Thank you for applying, expect to hear from us in 3-5 weeks" to "Thank you for submitting your application. Your application is complete and ready for review. Application review begins in October and continues on a rolling basis. Decisions are made on individual applications as quickly as possible; however, the time required to a make a decision will vary among applications. A rolling admission process allows for extending the review process as appropriate ensuring that each application receives full and individualized attention in the context of careful comparison to other complete applications"

At the risk of weirding everyone out... Would it seriously increase one's chances of getting in if its made explicit that aid/scholarship is NOT needed?

I hear if you offer to pay more for tuition you can get in with a 155...magjag wrote:At the risk of weirding everyone out... Would it seriously increase one's chances of getting in if its made explicit that aid/scholarship is NOT needed?
In all seriousness, no, it wouldn't change your chances and would most likely make you come off as desperate. This is a rough cycle, hold out hope, they will probably be offering a bit farther down the line than they normally would (not trying to say you have bad numbers, just trying to address what your question seems to imply).

You guessed correctly, I asked precisely because I do not have much hope of getting in. I think my LSAT is above median, but I do not have a GPA as I am an international candidate.John Everyman wrote:I hear if you offer to pay more for tuition you can get in with a 155...magjag wrote:At the risk of weirding everyone out...
