THANK YOU. I thought I broke the status checker from checking it too often.vuthy wrote:Read through the c/o 2016 thread for this time last year. Can't recall if it was a signal that they were about to get slotted for Faculty Review, or about to get in, or neither.mirroroferised7 wrote:Ummmm...

Just checked. Went from Complete to "Your File Is Under Review".
For some reason when I saw this I just got the biggest pit in my stomach, a total "Welp, I'm getting rejected" feel.

So before it said Complete with a date in late October. Now it has reverted even farther back to early october: "we have received your application."
This is making me nervous.

Re: UC Berkeley c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
This is weird. So, I was stuck at "Application received" and e-mailed Berkeley asking if there was a problem (I had not heard anything). They responded back saying they were holding my application until they received my "other letter of recommendation". I submitted one because the app said the letters were completely optional. Apparently if you submit one, you must submit two, or they'll hold your application.
Even though the application instructions explicitly say
"The Admissions Office will not hold your application for review pending receipt of your letters of recommendation. If you want all of your letters to be considered in the review process, be sure that they are available with your Credential Assembly Service (CAS) report at the time you submit your application."
I'm confused. Submitted my other letter, but still... Confused.

OKAY. Official research completed.
This happened to a bunch of people who were above medians last year around 1/23. They were actually being submitted for faculty review, and were eventually accepted.
So, I'm going to assume that's what's going on with us?

So I received my status check information today and 30 minutes later an email that I was UR. Anyone else had such quick turnaround? Wow. That's faster than NYU!

looking at pages 55through65 and yes It appears many who have changed from UR# --> complete will go on to recieve another updated status such as FR (faculty review 1, 2) ---> decision (acceptance or denial)
Mirror how did you conclude that you are accepted after FR? I saw some people who were placed on waitlist from FR then dinged..

Is there a difference between a simple UR and FR?angelshare wrote:mirroroferised7 wrote:OKAY. Official research completed.

What's an FR?[/quote]
According to Angelshare's post, some folks have an updated status that reads FR(faculty review 1/2).
The only one I've seen on my dashboard is UR.

To be honest, I was basing it off the fact that the first wave of people to get UR# --> Complete were accepted. I didn't plumb too much further, because I liked what I was seeing.angelshare wrote:mirroroferised7 wrote:OKAY. Official research completed.

Re: UC Berkeley c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
Berkeley states the following regarding app evaluations:
I think UR is actually administrative review and FR is committee review. HTHAdministrative Review
Once an application file is complete, it is evaluated on the basis of the admissions criteria by the Dean of Admissions. He admits a certain number of applicants who, under the governing criteria and on the basis of his experience, would have a high likelihood of admission if referred to the Admissions Committee. Similarly, applicants who would have a high likelihood of being denied if referred to the Committee are denied by the Dean of Admissions.
Committee Review
The remaining applicants are given more extended consideration by the Admissions Committee which is composed of faculty and students.
The student role is consultative and the faculty members' decisions are final. Only students who are members of the Admissions Committee are permitted to read files. You may indicate on the application form whether or not you consent to have your file read by a student member of the Committee. In the evaluation of your application, no weight is given to whether or not you consent to student review. In every case complete confidentiality of all materials is maintained.
As a result of the Committee's consideration, some applicants are admitted, some are placed on a waiting list, and the remaining applicants are denied. The total number admitted is that which experience has indicated will fill the places available in the entering class. If the number of admitted students who accept an offer of admission falls below the number necessary to fill the class, a waiting list is used to fill the remaining places.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
