I absolutely agree... a full tuition ride would have had me signing a lease. $84,000 is great, need to see if they'll be beaten by Indiana or Washington now.

Well considering that Indiana only offered me 20k/year I wouldn't assume they'll open up their wallets. Good thing Minn stayed put in the rankings or I'd assume these new scholarships were the result of some kind of panic

Just submitted my app last night on a very late decision to apply, we'll see what happens, I am a long shot to begin with.

Does Minnesota taking into account of softs like strong work experience much?

167 here and I only got 72k and struck out with negotiations. I do not understand their reasoning here haha I would put down my deposit immediately if they gave me the full ride that they're apparently giving to 166s now. Not trying to sound bitter -- congratulations to all of you who have gotten full rides! Just so confused.

Currently trying to decide between Minnesota, WashU and ND. Three admitted students' weekends in a row starting next weekend will hopefully help me figure it out a little more!

Is WUSTL really markedly better than UMN or is it mainly a preferential difference? I didn't apply to WUSTL but the general sentiment on TLS seems to be that it is somehow a better option if there is equal scholly/COA for the two. Why is that

There is a sentiment (that is likely supported by numbers, but I don't really want to get into it) that a WUSTL degree is significantly more portable than one from Minny.

Nice, best of luck. Just curious, are you from Cali? You applied to a few local schools around me..also, just a suggestion but try to speak with one of the admin directors in person at UMN if possible and say that its your top choice but you heard about the 84k/full tuition for 166s and that you think you merit the full tuition scholarship with your stats (which you do) and maybe it'll work better than email negotiations. Try to do it off to the side as well, bc it seems (based on TLS posts) that discretion, in regard to admissions and scholarship offers, is looked upon highly by UMN. If they are hesitant to let out more money to people that they think, for whatever reason, wouldn't attend then going to ASW will help if thats the case. Hope to see you at minn!

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely try to talk to them about it at ASW, maybe that will yield better results than email negotiations. And no, I'm actually from Chicago haha. Looking at it now though, I guess I did apply for a lot of California schools. This neverending midwestern winter might have played a role in that...

I was curious about self selection MN placement as well. obviously UMinn is regional, but between speaking with the career services people and anecdotes from current students, it seems many ppl end up really liking it in Minneapolis. Hoping that's the case if I end up attending

It seems pretty sensible to me. Almost all of the full-rides are over both medians (if we assume the GPA median is going to drop ~0.1) and it goes down reasonably from there, with traditional splitters scoring big.

Everything $120,000 on up is a full tuition scholarship. (Resident: $120,054. Non-resident: $143,157.)
