I'm guessing they would say "lolno" especially considering how much money WUSTL throws around.dkb17xzx wrote:does UT consider WUSTL a peer?
Do you think they should consider them a peer? They place in different markets and UT is always considerably higher ranked.

Re: University of TEXAS c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
haha its all good, im am just as surprised as you guys to have gotten an offer. I have about 1.5 years of work experience as a consultant and no advanced degree. I classify under Asian so assume no URM advantage either so I have no idea. Just insanely pumped and not even going to bother thinking about why or how.WokeUpInACar wrote:Thinly veiled WHY YOU AND NOT ME???romanticegotist wrote:Do you have any mitigating factors (awesome work experience, an advanced degree, etc) that explain your acceptance? I only ask because those numbers seem a touch low for UT (not a judgement of your intellect, obv), unless I'm misreading the stats for accepted students. Congrats!priyank90 wrote:Just got in via phone!!! Was expecting an auto-reject. 161/164 with 3.61. So excited right now, I was about to call back to make sure I didn't dream that phone call!

no i don't think they can truly be considered a peer but WUSTL is 3-4 places behind in USNWR so i figured i might as well ask.

It certainly wont hurt to show them WUSTLs offer. I believe Texas wants you to show all their offers at once. Though it may not quite be a peer school in their eyes it is a well respected school. Texas may not match their offer but may increase their original offer.dkb17xzx wrote:makes sense.BigZuck wrote:I'm guessing they would say "lolno" especially considering how much money WUSTL throws around.dkb17xzx wrote:does UT consider WUSTL a peer?

Is Emory considered a peer? Would explaining an offer from them be persuasive in any way, you think?

Probably not a peer but similar to WUSTL in that it is a respectable school so you may be able to bump up the amount of aid you get.JXander wrote:Is Emory considered a peer? Would explaining an offer from them be persuasive in any way, you think?

So got my call last week and was not specifically told that there would be a scholarship offer on the way. Today I got my hopes up when I got a letter in the mail from UT, but it basically turned out to be nothing more than a "Austin and UT are great, so come here" statement from Dean Farnsworth. Anyone else get this letter? Is this an alternative to a scholarship offer? Or should I not abandon all hope just yet? (Won't have hit two weeks from call until later this week).

Got this letter too, in addition to a scholarship offer. Sit tight, give it a couple weeks to see if an offer comes.Pebbles wrote:So got my call last week and was not specifically told that there would be a scholarship offer on the way. Also, I missed my call so only heard the voicemail but she made no mention of money on the message and I was given in state tuition plus 15k a year. Try not to worry about it and hope is definitely not lost!Pebbles wrote:Phew... Thanks for the peace of mind. Same thing happened to me. I missed the call and got no mention of scholarship money. But my offer ended up being very similar to yours.BigZuck wrote:Also, I missed my call so only heard the voicemail but she made no mention of money on the message and I was given in state tuition plus 15k a year. In case anyone is wondering, i got my interview moved to feb 18. Also i asked what the format/length of the interview will be and was told that it will be basic interview questions and be prepared to discuss why i'm a good fit, individual strengths, etc. She said it should take 30-40 minutes.

Just got an email from UT about Dinner in Chicago with a professor (I'm from IL). Do they do this often for out of state people, anyone else gotten a similar email in the past?

So today I spoke to a 2L at the firm in which I work here in Austin. He said that prospects for getting into TX are very high all across the board. Apparently, the rumor is that the Dean is making Admissions make the incoming class a minimum of 350 students. Rejoice, my fellow splitters.

Ugh, that sucks. I was really hoping they would keep the class size down. What is the point of graduating a bunch of people who have no chance at getting lawyer jobs? Irresponsible of them IMO.JXander wrote:So today I spoke to a 2L at the firm in which I work here in Austin. He said that prospects for getting into TX are very high all across the board.
