I wish I had options at this point, but my only two admits are STCL and TSU. So, you know, no real choice there.

I also have a spreadsheet! Even if I do not receive a scholarship from South Texas, I think I would still graduate with half the debt compared to what Baylor would cost. I could also live with family here in Houston. :D I don't know what to do!

I sent an email to Baylor explaining I really needed a decision for the summer quarter. Complete since 1/7.

I think even if I get into Baylor, I think I would pick STCL over Baylor because of personal preferences.

Yeah, I panic applied at the end of January and got the acceptance letter last week. They demand a seat deposit by April 1st, and there was nothing in the letter about scholarship info. Thanks but no thanks, guys.

Has anyone started looking at apartments yet? I'm hoping to find a place in West University, but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it. Other than West U and Montrose, I'm not really sure about which areas are safe within the beltway.

How far apart are the installments? is the purpose of that so that if you change your mind you dont pay the full 300?

A couple of pages ago a couple of people were talking about apartments, I think they were talking about Montrose and Midtown.

Yep, at least about scholarship. They said they will release scholarships later today, through the end of tomorrow. It will update on both the status checker and (hopefully this time) you'll get an email.

So if we don't get an email/status checker change today, all is not doomed then?

Well the review process is that 3 faculty members read your file, and if they all agree, you're in/dinged. If not, they move your file to another group of 3 faculty members. I would guess if neither group agrees then you get a waitlist.

No way to really tell this, but when I called they seemed to be very busy. He said they are working full force now. I mentioned seat deposits for other schools are coming up and he said they realize that and are working like crazy.

I also asked about a full "admitted student day" (not the "meet your fellow students reception", but like a tour, faculty panel, Q&A etc) and he said the closest thing to that was the 4/2 event and it will run 10-2, although he said probably 10-1.... anyone else not fell welcomed or informed enough? Oklahoma City did a entire tour, meals, student panel, scholarship panel, Q&A /w dean, financial aid info session etc etc... Tulsa's schedule (for this weekend) is four pages long. Texas Wesleyan invited me to three different events and has sent multiple info sheets, Mercer sent me several invites, plus exactly how the fees and tuition are taken out--like by which loan etc. So far South TX has said, "hey, your in, sorry we didn't email you". And "here are a few meet your potential fellow students" days. I flew down there in Feb for the "open house" which consisted of a couple of booths, with a few handouts, and a info session on applying--LSAT, GPA  etc. and then three teachers talking about the careers they have had....
Maybe I'm just being cynical but STCL is my top choice (with Tech) , but has had about the worst communication and informative help of the 20 schools to which I applied.

I bet they have a initial review like an index number or something. about 150 out of 1100 students below a 150 were accepted last year, and I'd be willing to bet that indexes play into that.

Yeah, STCL is definitely not on the ball compared to other peer schools. I don't even know if I really believe that they are going to send out scholly money today like they have supposedly said; I guess we will find out later today...

Yup, but nice doesn't compensate for 36K tuition, and a ranking drop from 80's to 90's to 100 to 127 in four years. Rankings shouldn't matter above the top schools, but apply that to the fact that schools shouldn't drop several "tiers" in a few years either.
