173/3.5 - WL'd. Completely confused. This was actually one of my higher choices and could have been persuaded by $'s over a Top-14. Oh well.chrisbru wrote:dreakol wrote:WL'd 3.67 169
Ok this is seriously ridiculous.
How funny would it be if they mixed up a waitlist pile with an accept pile? I can't believe some of the shit I'm seeing on here though, it's insane.

Submit a LOCI, Why Minn while on the waitlist. If you can get in off of it, your chances at money are still pretty good.illwill wrote:173/3.5 - WL'd. Completely confused. Got the phone call on Friday.
I'm a 169/2.95 with good softs and unique work experience.
Anyone know what my chances at some scholarship money are? I would love to go to Minnesota, but it'll be hard to turn down some big scholarships from roughly equal schools.

I don't have any control over that.

Hmmm. It was my understanding that usually money was used up by the time they work the waitlist, not to mention they don't have to "market to you" with scholarship money. Is this not really the case?Hannibal wrote:Submit a LOCI, Why Minn while on the waitlist. If you can get in off of it, your chances at money are still pretty good.illwill wrote:

You guys should stop with ### obsession - they mean it when they say that the application process is holistic. They look at everything, it's not just to accumulate paperwork that they ask a Personal Statement, a Resume and so on !!!!!athenian wrote:paulinaporizkova wrote:wait.....a 2.95/169 got in and a 3.67/169 got WLed??

We can't help it. The only thing we can evaluate is the ###. Everyone thinks their PS and resume is better than the next guy.
Plus 3.67/169 is an obvious YP, not a "holistic review" of their app. I highly doubt anyone with those numbers has a bad resume or screwed up their PS.

Waitlisted this morning; was in review several different dates; keeping my fingers crossed; do not know why I am using so many semi-colons.

I really enjoy when people defend schools as being truly holistic. There's a few in every thread, because law school in general, is truly holistic.

yield protection – no one with a 170+ LSAT could ever be persuaded to move to Minnesota.

Disagree. It was my top choice. I want to go to school in and practice in either Denver/Boulder or Minneapolis.daniel5126 wrote:yield protection – no one with a 170+ LSAT could ever be persuaded to move to Minnesota.
Granted my GPA sucks... Whatever, sorry I party.

That's generally for students trying to get in RD late. If one of your numbers is especially strong, your bargaining power actually increases at the very end. And your LSAT definitely counts for Minnesota.illwill wrote:Hmmm. If anything, this all proves how numbers-driven Minnesota truly is. They're YPing everyone with superior stats. I guess they think we're all using them as a safety, and that we generally won't subject ourselves to the frozen tundra when we have other options on the table. They may be right.mss455 wrote:athenian wrote:paulinaporizkova wrote:wait.....a 2.95/169 got in and a 3.67/169 got WLed??
