Yeah, one of the questions was why I wanted to go to law school now instead of taking a year off

What would be a good response to this (Why now instead of taking a year off)? I can't really think of a reason except for opportunity cost. But that doesn't seem like something you would say in an interview...

Hey guys, first time logging in. Thought I would share my stats.

Denied with a 174 and 3.93. Pretty good softs (president or vice president of several clubs, started a business, etc), K-JD. I think one of the deciding factors was that I had a bad JS1 (at least I think I did anyway). Surprisingly, I am not that upset. The way I see it, sometimes there is a benefit in not getting what you want. For me at least, it makes me want to work that much harder in the future. For those who have gotten denied, try to make the best of the situation. For those who haven't heard, best of luck. There is still time to hear good news.

How as your personal statement like.. may I ask?

I am sorry to ask you this but did you have other issues in your app? like too many P/F or Withdraws in transcript or c/f issues?

I'd stress how my experiences prepared me for law/law school and convinced me that it was the right path for me, so it makes more sense to get to it rather than wait around. I thinking evincing certainty that law is your path is the way to go.

Nope none of that. Its possible that my major could have influenced how they rate my gpa (I was a philosophy major). I honestly think that the main reason though was the js1.

how bad was js1 except for that one question you kind of stumbled?

I guess js1 is only 10 min and not a big factor.?

Seems like it. I imagine most K-JDs got a similar question.

I'm KJD and didn't get asked why I wanted to go to law school, why I wanted to go now, why Harvard, or what I would do if law school didn't exist. Which I thought was really weird. It was more questions like "how did you end up majoring in what you did?" and "pick an internship and tell me about it" and "do you think you want to stay on the East Coast or go back to your hometown?"

I tried to throw some why Harvard into my answers in a roundabout way once I realized I wasn't going to be asked directly..

I got asked if law school didn't exist what would I do instead, which I thought might be an alternative way of asking but that seems a little different..

i was not asked that. which is great cuz idk what i would have said off the top of my head haha

i remember i did say that i wanted to go straight to law school so that i wouldn't have to worry about paying off the debt i accrued in my ug studies tho, but that was unprompted i just kind of offered it up

OK, so someone above both medians got rejected. Now I'm a bit worried. I'm going to go to do some and hopefully I won't get any e-mail in the meantime.

...and it doesn't surprise me that Danielle interviewed you. I'm sure there are some people who actually had JS who got rejected, but I would be interested in hearing from one.

i dunnoo they emphatically insist that your interviewer is no reflection of your status. maybe that isnt actually the case but im inclined to think they're being straight up about it.

also, isnt the fact that you schedule your own interview an indication that they do not pair interviewers and interviewees up deliberately?

I don't think who you get is based on the strength of your application. It may be that certain interviewers tend to illicit less favorable responses from applicants though.

Maybe we can get some data on interviewer---->JS2s.

It probably helps that people know JS's style very well from here, and are fairly well prepared for the kinds of questions she asks. On the other hand, the other interviewers are newer, and people seem to have been reluctant to reveal their interviewer alongside the questions they were asked so they don't reveal their identity. This probably results in having less practice with their specific questions as well as being thrown off by the fact that you don't know much about your interviewer.
