Go to lawschooltransparency and lawschoolnumbers to compare the two schools from an employment perspective. Consider what you want to do and where you want to work, and the likelihood of both of those factors at each school. Chances are quite good that you'll find WUSTL is the better option for you if your debt load will be the same.

okay now i feel bad. There are probably reasons why one would choose UMN over WUSTL at equal cost:
1. If you have some personal reason to stay in Minnesota (E.g. SO...family...)
2. If you're from Minnesota and
only want to practice in Minnesota.
3. If you hate St. Louis/WashU/Missouri for some reason
Going to UMN will materially limit your geographic reach. Limiting geographic reach is less of a risk if it's Chicago or NYC or some major market. But I can't imagine there are many legal jobs in Minnesota, and i can't imagine that they pay very well.
WUSTL isn't the land of milk and honey by no means, it's tough if you don't do well. But major firms across a variety of markets are still interested in meeting us. And having WUSTL on your resume will better than having UMN when you mass mail to any market minus Minnesota.
Btw i'm assuming that "equal cost" means fairly cheap. If you have a full ride to both schools, then i guess it's more understandable if you pick UMN for some reason, since u'll have the lowest debt possible. Low reward but low risk.
But if you're paying 100k or similar for both schools, then WUSTL hands down. There's a price point at which you shouldn't attend either school, but that's a personal decision for you.
