My UG use a 100 point system, and LSAC converts 90-100=4.0 80-90=3.0 etc. The problem is almost no professor use standarized variance curve.

So in one certain Organic Chemistry class of 100+ students , there was one single student who scored 98, and the next highest score was 79.

(And that SOB Mr. 98 was an international chemistry olympiad gold medalist to begin with)

Maybe. But the TLS consensus seems to be that the admissions process is highly driven by the USWNR rankings, which is probably overblown, to an extent. Still, I doubt schools take all of that info into account as much as they should.

The fact that I have a grad degree is irrelevant. However, I was taking courses with these students while in undergrad (we get admitted to the program before our junior year and take most courses with one another after that), which definitely had an effect on my undergraduate GPA

And this doesn't have anything to do with Harvard, specifically. It's just a general complaint that seemed applicable to the discussion in this thread. I sound like a whiny bitch, though.

I don't know if this is true for your major, but I think for my major, the grad courses' "curves" were very lenient. Whereas a UG course might hand out 20% As, the corresponding grad course might hand out 50% or more. That might make up for the presumably higher caliber students in the grad courses.

I know I'm a little late to this party, but fwiw I never took the SAT or the ACT. I started at a community college at 16 20 and just finished UG wherever the credits transferred easily. That ended up being a no-name somewhat decent state university. Didn't really know I had law school potential until I took the LSAT and came to TLS.

If your GPA is accurate in your profile you should be fine with that 3.9. It's the 3.77ish to 3.87ish area that seems to not gotten any love in the last 3 to 4 months.
