This sounds like panic, so my best advice is just relax. Yes, you have a chance, because you applied. It's just still too early in the cycle to know exactly what kind of a chance that is.Nucky wrote:So I applied back in November and still have not heard anything. My stats should equal auto-ding, in my estimation. But I am a URM with strong softs and LORs. Could this mean I have a chance?
When I applied I put my chances at 0.001%, and that number was with the hope an adcomm would push the wrong button or something. But I thought, hey, make them tell you no.
Not having heard anything is making me wonder if they are just screwing with me for even daring to submit an app, or if perhaps Harvard is just such a fine, unique, and outside-the-box thinking institution that they are actually considering me.
If I received an admit I would probably die moments later from accidentally jumping through my high-rise window while bouncing off the walls... But I would die with a smile.
BTW, sorry to hear about the dings. I'm sure you're all outstanding applicants who will have several other great options in front of you. No matter what, I have no doubt big law and/or that dream job is in all of your futures, so chin up!

If you applied in November that means that they have probably rejected folks who applied after you. So the fact that you are still waiting for a response means they are still considering you.HorseThief wrote:This sounds like panic, so my best advice is just relax. Thank you for the responses. Yes, that is what I figured. I suppose I am just very pleasantly surprised.Come on Down wrote:If you applied in November that means that they have probably rejected folks who applied after you. My guess is that the URM pool is more difficult to predict year-to-year, so they are just taking their sweet time before rejecting URM candidates.

Me: "What do you think the odds are of a girl like you(Harvard) getting with a guy like me?"
Harvard: "I'd say it's about one in a million."
Me: "... So you're saying there's a chance!"

Sorry to all those that got dinged!
Even though I was lurking for the first 250 or so pages of this thread, I miss the optimism that used to be so prevalent (before people started getting rejected). Now there's an ominous feeling, especially when people with such good stats are getting turned down...
Hopefully we see some JS2's (and JS1's) in the near future!

Rejected as well, but I expected it with my LSAT. 167/3.8. Complete 1/13, no JS1. Received email 1:54. Good luck to all of you.

Auto-ding (no js1, complete 1/8). Double<25s. A weight off my shoulders really. Cheers to those still alive. Y'all deserve it.

I'm wondering if I will have to wait for the dings to go out first before being considered for a JS1.
