to other still pending holds: we're having a little roll call over on the "held at harvard" thread... so far we're doing decently at putting together a "unified theory of our situation." stop by and, if you're comfortable, give us a sense of your applicant profile.

I saw all the discussion over the last couple pages on waitlisting sub-3.8 GPAs, but I saw a 3.84/175 waitlist on LSN who was a humanities/soc. sci. double major. Granted, both those fields <<<<< hard sciences for difficulty, but I'd think most people applying to LS would have a humanities/social sciences background so it wouldn't put someone at a significant disadvantage. They're definitely selecting for very high GPAs this cycle, but that person's profile makes me think there's something else going on in addition. (Also, I skimmed that guy's LSN profile and didn't see any red flags to explain the WL.)

What makes you say this? Whence do you draw your conclusions, fellow forum denizen?

oh I dunno...maybe the small sea of green at the very top right-hand corner of their admissions graph?

and also the fact that there have been 4.0/170-ish admits but not 3.5/180 type admits. The LSP index suggests that HLS weighs LSAT 3x more heavily than GPA, but I don't see that playing out in terms of results this cycle.

yeah, major case of tl;dr on that one. Perhaps he had lukewarm recommendations? He's still awaiting chicago, which says something, at any rate, although it could be YP. Beyond that, very tough to say, beyond looking at the amount of money he was offered at places--and the 25k at CLS might be telling? not really sure.

He is also a retake of 163 -> 175.

A great policy... discourage people who may have had a bad day and are extra motivated to prove themselves...

I was a retaker (with exactly those scores actually!) and admitted in November. There was 2 years between my scores though but not any other great reason for the difference.

A great policy... discourage people who may have had a bad day and are extra motivated to prove themselves...

I was a retaker (with exactly those scores actually!) and admitted in November. There was 2 years between my scores though but not any other great reason for the difference.

Just WLed, went complete early February, no hold, no JR1s. One of those lower LSAT, higher GPA types. I have officially completed the HYS WL sweep.

Sounds better than you think. You probably have a decent shot at getting into at least ONE. That's more than most people can say. Do you have a clear top choice?
