Reading this thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 5&t=226881 and suddenly having second thoughts about the options I'm considering.

don't you have money at some T13s? where were you considering paying sticker?

I'm pretty strongly leaning towards 45k at Chicago which is pretty close to sticker...

This is great - at least it seems like she understands!

I have the scholarship negotiation page advice page linked on my spreadsheet I share with my parents so my dad read through that at least - he didn't seem too put off by it

Pretty sure I'm set on UIUC. Just withdrew from 90% of my acceptances/waitlists and it feels so liberating.

I got the same email and I withdrew so that makes me think they sent it to all applicants.
Still UR and not a woman here, so they def sent it to all applicants by mistake.

Yep. Got the same thing and I withdrew last week. This was definitely a mistake on their part.

I need serious help. I just got the one waitlist that pushed me over the limit and effectively rendered my entire cycle a complete failure. Rejected at one place, waitlisted at 9, 2 more WLs for certain coming down the pipe, only Columbia I have any "hope" left in, and they're Columbia so why would they take me where no other T13 would no matter what MyLSN says?

What do I do? My life couldn't feel any more pointlessly in shambles right now. My LSAT score accomplished absolutely nothing despite this being a down cycle. I have nothing.

Nightwing, have you posted your personal statement anonymously in the personal statement thread? TLS people may be able to provide some feedback, to see if there is anything in there that might explain your decisions. I'm sorry that your cycle has turned out this way :(

If you don't have a bomb LSAT, retake. If you do, then find what fucked your cycle and apply again next year. Take this year to work, work out, get your life back to positivity, and become an applicant everyone would desire. If it wasn't your LOR's, it could be your PS. Have plenty of ppl read it - maybe you sound arrogant or crazy and you can't see it yourself (not saying this is the case, but I've met plenty of ppl not self aware and coming off as opposite of who they are). Really wish you the best.

ETA: I mean this if money is of any factor and you can wait another year since you're not likely to get much $ off a waitlist. If that's not a concern then yeah LOCI like crazy and you'll end up somewhere for sure.

Yeah, this. Highlight specific programs and clinics that interest you for each school and sell your skills that will set you apart as an excellent student. You still aren't out. Don't give up until every school has given you a final decision.

I have to agree with what everyone else has said, nightwing. If your numbers are solid for the schools you applied than there must be another weak point in your application. Send LOCI's, visit, etc and try to get off the Waitlists. If that doesn't work, then check your application over again, make sure you're 100% certain your LOR writers would give you glowing recs, and reapply.

I'm really sorry this is happening, though. I'm sure it's hard to keep your head up.

Yeah if you have to reapply next year I would consider starting completely from scratch. 100% new PS and PS topic. New letters even if there is any suspicion whatsoever you were undermined.
Apply on day 1 apps open.

Idk your numbers really. You're not a splitter right? Or are you?

Don't despair yet buddy, the odds of you not getting off a single waitlist are pretty low. If there's 10% chance of getting admitted off a waitlist on average – I don't know what the actual number is, but 10% seems pessimistic if anything to me anyways – and you're waitlisted at eleven schools, then the odds of you getting into at least one school is 69%*. So your odds are actually still pretty decent here. I agree with others, send some strong LOCIs and do the typical stuff that helps with waitlists and keep your fingers crossed. You may have to pay sticker but this cycle really isn't over for you.

*Calculation: 1 - 0.9^11 = 0.686, which rounds to 69 percent. I haven't taken math since Obama's first term so someone should check my math, but I'm pretty sure that's the right way to calculate this probability.

Nightwing, if you are above median (let alone 75ths) at all of these school, there's likely a problem with your PS or LoR. Based on your posts, it does not seem like it's the PS. But feel free to PM me if you want me to read it over. Do you think one of your recommenders could have said something unpleasant?

Having said that, I agree with those who recommend taking a year off if that's a possibility. Even if you get off a waitlist, you wil likely face sticker. Not worth paying sticker because of a mistake that you could easily fix.

I agree with what others are telling you about a fresh new app. Even if you get in off a WL you might feel more pressure to go b/c that's your only choice. You have some pretty awesome stats from what I remember so if you overhauled your app and tried again you would give yourself a fighting shot at having lots of options + money to choose from. I know it's super hard to do, but don't let this bring you down or force you to go to a school you didn't really want to go to in the first place.
