In that case, I think CLS probably thinks (correctly?) that you're bound elsewhere, my friend.

I wish I could -- I'm out of state now (roommate called to let me know there was an interestingly colored envelope from CLS).
I live in NY but not the city. When I get back I will update with info.

Got a call from home "Congratulations....Georgetown!" Almost had a heart attack. Dad had forgotten I got into GULC in october. The GULC packet has arrived. He said it was post marked from like 3 weeks ago. I wonder what held it up that long.

So, guys. Just got done reading the Columbia 2010 thread and the (much briefer) 2010 Hold thread. It looks bad. Real bad. Unless they are significantly altering how they exercise the "hold" option this year, it looks like 90% of us are headed for reserve, 9% will get a ding, and maybe 1% will make it out alive. I didn't actually calculate these percentages, obviously, but I only saw 3 posters who were held and subsequently accepted. A few were rejected. all others were waitlisted.

Did you find out anything about those who went complete before Xmas but still have received nothing but silence?jd2014! wrote:So, guys. Not even remotely true. Submitted in September, no e-mails, awaiting either VCE or rejection letter.glitched wrote:they were all accepted.jtemp320 wrote:Did you find out anything about those who went complete before Xmas but still have received nothing but silence?jd2014! wrote:So, guys. Re: Columbia 2011!
yeah i did, too...it was brutal. i'm writing a LOCI and sending in updated transcripts just so i don't have any regrets, but am mentally crossing CLS off the list.jd2014! wrote:So, guys. Re: Columbia 2011!
Should have posted with the whole slew of holds a bunch of pages back, but here I am. Hold.
I don't understand what the purpose of this is. You know you're going to WL me eventually, just get on with it and send me your awkwardly worded letter so I can assume I'm being sent to the bottomless pit of reserves.

(You know, maybe 2%?) =)
Good thinking.
They seemed to hold an awful lot of people last year too, but because they sent the holds via snail mail there wasn't a sudden clusterfu** of holds on LSN like there was this year because of the switch to email.
In conclusion, who the hell knows?

It really looks like they have held way more people this time around. I'd be shocked if 90% of us were waitlisted and 9% of us were rejected.

Re: Columbia 2011!
That could be true, if only because so many of the holds seemed to have great numbers. JD2014, were there a lot of high-number holds last year?Weirdlog wrote:It really looks like they have held way more people this time around. I'd be shocked if 90% of us were waitlisted and 9% of us were rejected.
Anyway, I'm not a high-number hold, so I'm assuming now would be the right time for me to start seriously comparing the schools I am accepted at. Thanks so much for doing the research!

There was one tortured soul who stuck around till the bitter end- applied early, 180/3.8. Thought she was in the running for a Butler or a Hamilton (apparently her numbers twin got $$$ at CLS). She was held in Feb, reserved at the end of April. Burn. She took the cash at NYU.
To give a ray of hope to us middling-numbers folks, one girl was pulled out of hold and accepted on April 12 with a 3.76/171. I choose to focus on this exception rather than the rule (which is waiting till the end of April to join Reserve).

So no one today received rejection letters via snail mail? Weren't they dated 2/1, I feel like people in the tri-state area should have already got them.

Well, the mailman came. 1/31 postmark VCE, I submitted over Thanksgiving, went complete like, mid-December.
I'm the 173/3.76/4.375 index on the forgotten sheet.
