I wouldn't worry too much. Check LSN and you'll see L&C let in a lot of 165+ LSATs, and most of them will be withdrawing and moving on to higher-ranked schools. Plenty of space will open up in April. I feel for you both, though.

Got the "Practical Skills" psyche-out mailer today. Was looking forward to some good news. Still can't log into the admitted students section.

LSAT 170, but 2.5 GPA because of some crappy semesters almost 10 years ago. I wish law schools were like most other graduate schools where they look at the last two years of college. If that was the case, I'd be a 3.7ish. Oh well, hopefully they give me a shot.

I think L&C is great. But if you really have a 170 and have been out of school for ten years, I don't see any reason why you would be considering schools below the top 30 (no matter what your GPA is). Take a look at the profiles of law firms in Portland and you'll see plenty of T30 schools (UW, for instance!). Most of those degrees transfer to Portland just fine and, in my experience working with NW firms, usually garner much better positions. I don't think your GPA will hold you back as much as you think, especially since you've been out in the real world for a while.

If L&C is your dream school or if you can't leave Portland, you should think about applying really early next cycle and snap up a huge scholarship. You shouldn't consider L&C without a 3/4 to full ride given such a high LSAT.

I hope this doesn't sound like I'm down on L&C, because I'm not. I just don't want you to waste that LSAT (that I'm jealous of!).

EDIT: Though there very little data on LSN similar to yours, I've realized though searching that there does seem to be a significant stigma against anyone around a 2.5 GPA. However, I still think you should hold out if L&C doesn't give you a really good scholarship. It appears that those who apply early and to a lot of schools have great cycles.

Either way, I don't think bad grades from 10 years ago will affect you as much as you might think. Though whatever caused you to delay graduating might. That LSAT score is a gem. You might want to hit up the "What are my chances?" forum for next cycle if you haven't already, just to get an idea of the potential costs/benefits of attending this year versus next. Good luck!

I'm officially in as of last night via email (due to being abroad). I am a very, very happy man! Such a shame I'll have to miss the shindig in March, but I hope you guys have a great time. To perhaps help ease any jitters out there, last "Application Complete" was 2/11, I could access the Admitted Students section several days ago and the letter is dated 2/16.

Finally got my snail mail acceptance package. Included was the dreaded "we're out of scholarships" letter. What a bizarre and frustrating system they have....

Apparently L&C just loves messing with my head. First my application is put on hold. Then I receive an e-mail from their admissions office, which gets my hope up about some kind of decision. The e-mail ended up being about financial aid. Today I receive a large packet in the mail from them. I'm thinking, "Wow, they decided to admit me!" The packet contained a Practical Skills brochure and la etter telling me how great their school is and that they hope I like what I see.... Are you kidding me?!

Can you tell me what this is about? I got the same thing. It was ??? What can I say?
