Not to play devils advocate, but if you guys went complete late, you might just be falling to the limited seats scenario. There's no excuse for a rude WL letter (I wouldn't mind hearing the language if you wouldn't mind sharing) but at some point, they can't admit everyone qualified for fear of over enrolling.

I don't know. I was complete on 1/21. A tad late, but not so late that it should have taken this long to get a decision.

Anyway, this is the letter. Maybe not rude, per say, perhaps I was overreacting. But not nearly as nice as other WL's I've gotten. Kinda seems like 'eh, you didn't make the cut yet. It's possible but don't count on it. Bye.'

Yeah I agree with you on both counts. 1/21 isn't particularly late, and that was a rude letter (maybe not rude, but definitely way south of nice).

I disagree. It seems to be one of the most honest letters out there. Would you rather false hope?

I feel like some buttering up is usually appropriate.

For instance, Cardozo's waitlist e-mail:

During recent admissions seasons, over 5,000 women and men have applied each year for admission to Cardozo School of Law. The number of applications we receive from highly qualified applicants unfortunately exceeds our ability to admit many strong candidates who we believe may make significant contributions to the Cardozo community. Fair enough, but in my other waitlist emails it was nice to see that they showed that that they were sort of interested in me. It sucks getting waitlisted, so I just thought they coulda said it a bit nicer is all (it sounded like a robot spit it out, rather than a human). I also don't necessarily think being nice/showing interest equates to false hope.

Just my 0.02 though, the meaning is in the eye of the interpreter

So I know this is kinda a lame question, but whats the deal with no School of Law sweatshirt on the schools online bookstore site? How am I supposed to represent and show off my accomplishment to all those who lay their eyes on me?

They have them in the bookstore (I was wondering the same as well). I have yet to get there, but I'll be loading up on some Nova gear when I do.

I visited a few weeks back for the ASD and checked 'em out, there were only a few and they were genergic with big block letters,and like $50-60! nothing fancy

Out of curiosity, can a current student (mikeyp, perhaps?) give some information about how the sections work? There are three of them, right? Are they just divided up alphabetically, or in some other way?

Has anyone on the waitlist been accepted yet? I haven't seen any movement on LSN, but I know they said they would evaluate the waitlist immediately after their April 15th seat deposit deadline. I would assume some people will be accepted this week/next week if there are any available spots.

I think they said they will reevaluate any seat availabilities after the first deposit but typically there is no WL movement until after the second deposit in June. That's what I remember from the WL emails.

FYI not everyone has the same deadlines.. I didn't receive my acceptance letter until April 8th, which informed me of my April 30th deadline.

For those of you that have been accepted late in the game, such as within the last few weeks, are you strongly considering Villanova or have you committed elsewhere? I feel like a lot of people who may have gone had they been accepted earlier aren't able to now, or are bitter by the late acceptance.

I thought you would have heard by now. They may have legit lost your file or your a felon of some kind because that is ridiculous. Thats on the level of UNC's shenanigans.

Torts = 3 sections (~80 students)
Civil Procedure = 3 sections (~80 students)
Criminal Law = 2 sections (~120 students)

There are essentially 3 sections: A, B, and C. Each section has approximately 80 people. Your section is designated by your Torts class.

I'll start with an example. My schedule for the fall was as follows:
Torts B
Civ Pro B
Crim Law A
Writing F
Research F

Therefore, I was in section B. So because Torts and Civ Pro have 3 sections each, you will be with the same 80 students for those two classes. However, because Crim Law has only two sections, it is split in half. So 40 students from section B are put in Crim Law A, and the other 40 are put in Crim Law B. Since I was in B, my section was split.

It's a little bit complicated, but does that make sense? Let me know if you want some more clarification, I may not have explained it so well.

The easiest way to think about it though is by legal writing/research class. Each writing class has approximately 20 students. You will go to every class with these 20 students.

I didn't go complete until 2/1 but I'm fairly certain I will have a JD by the time Nova makes a decision on my file.

I paid money for a decision, so I am waiting for one. It's also just interesting to see how they are dealing with this. I have contacted them 3 times and continue to receive generic messages about how they're working really hard to get through all of the applications.

It's not like I'm taking up someone else's spot by sitting on an acceptance or scholarship money, so I don't feel that I should be compelled to withdraw my application even though I do not intend to go to Villanova. Like I said, I just want a decision because I paid the fee and took the time to apply, just like everyone else.
