I think I've seen that they don't do stipends, but it's worth a shot. Let me know if they give you one so I can try it as well!!!circle.the.wagons wrote:anyone know how to get a stipend for asd in april? should i just email admissions?

BU does a travel reimbursement and their ASD i the day before BC. I'm going to both.

So I'm not an admitted student, but I am going on a guided tour of the law school later this week. Is that something I should do on my own or are parents allowed?

Opinions on this subject vary. Is the tour private or will you be with other prospective students? Are your parents paying for your education/only able to see the school at the tour this week?JGPGH wrote:So I'm not an admitted student, but I am going on a guided tour of the law school later this week. I'd say go it alone because that's the adult thing to do, tbh. That's just my opinion though, maybe I'm too superficial about it

I'm of the mind tours with parents are fine, but bringing them to an ASD and other student events is too far. Just make sure that on your tour, you ask the majority of the questions.mrtux45 wrote:Opinions on this subject vary. Is the tour private or will you be with other prospective students? BC up to 26th in USNews rankings if this is right. Could explain the weird decisions/stubbornness on negotiations.

I feel like this is where they should have been anyway, so good for them. They definitely do better on the outcomes side of thing than the incoming stats, which are why the quality of the school may have not been reflected in the USNWR.tuesdayninja wrote:BC up to 26th in USNews rankings if this is right. I agree, they definitely have been punching above their weight, at least on par with BU.Dodocogon wrote:I feel like this is where they should have been anyway, so good for them. Yep, got a no-go on my scholly negotiation. Seems like a lot of schools are doing starting to give their highest offer off the bat this year, which honestly makes more sense than lowballing and negotiating, but it would be nice to get an extra 20k.

Do you mind giving a little more specifics? What other offers did you reach out with/what was their response?circle.the.wagons wrote:Yep, got a no-go on my scholly negotiation. Re: Boston College c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I'm hopefully upping my BU offer above BC, where I can then send it to BC and basically say I'm going to Boston, but to just which school makes me a better deal. Should be my strongest position... helps that it's the actual case here. We'll see if they change their stance when the pressure is up.circle.the.wagons wrote:Yep, got a no-go on my scholly negotiation. I'm about 99% sure I'm gonna be at BC this fall though regardless of my failed attempt haha. (That feels cool as hell to say.)

Re: Boston College c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I definitely agree with this. I feel like past rankings had BC lower than they should have been, for sure. I don't put a lot of stock into USNWR rankings but it's definitely a nice talking point when telling my family why it's a sound investment to move across the country, since USNWR does carry weight in the name recognition department. Great job BC, keep winning me over.Dodocogon wrote:I feel like this is where they should have been anyway, so good for them. It certainly is nice that BC moved up a few spots. Anybody think they will surpass BU in a few years?
Also, how long were you all complete for before going under review? It's been almost a month over here and I'm still not UR.

Checking in. REALLY hope to be joining those of you that were accepted/plan to attend come Fall. App has been complete for a week but has not gone under review yet. Anyone have any insight about whether or not this is normal? My stats are good for BC but I'm nervous.

You and I are on a similar timeline and possibly even similar statsLaw2020hopeful wrote:Checking in. REALLY hope to be joining those of you that were accepted/plan to attend come Fall. I LOVE Boston and have some family there. I'd be thrilled to be at BC. And they're kicking butt on the new rankings - go them!
