Well it's also one of the largest schools in the country so...
this logic doesn't hold up rigo
First - that's provably false. It's not even top ten. The tenth largest college is University of Indiana with over 48k students. Berkeley has only 38k. It's smaller than UCLA and almost the same size as Davis... Ohio has 63k, Texas A&M has 58k
Second - even if it was it doesn't mean anything, conservatives will be able to be out of the closet and fit in with many students since Berkeley has one of the largest college republican clubs in the nation. Also consider how many students might be republican but don't want to be in a club about it.

Yeah, not surprising really. Difference between members and active members I guess. I'm pretty interested in politics, but I don't think I could go to a meeting once a week to talk about it.

On second thought, you're right. I didn't realize it was only 38k. Practically a liberal arts college.

Considering the vote was pretty much down party lines, pretty much yes. Although there were more democrat "Trumpies" than republican Hillary voters, do not exactly but close enough.

Good catch! I definitely stopped checking my status checker after my acceptance lol. I have my original decision letter mailed 12/12, and then two more dated 1/17. Wonder if this is a glitch or if means something more

I have two entries for a decision letter sent on 1/17, but I was accepted on that day. I think it may be a glitch.

I submitted my app on 12/07 and have not received a status check email. I emailed their admissions office on 1/13 letting them know that I have not received the status checker. All I got was an automatic reply from them stating that they are closed for the holidays until January 3rd -_-
Is anyone else experiencing this? Should I send another email?

You definitely should. I sent my app in on January 3rd got my checker the next day, and went complete on the 6th.

Agreed. Maybe call them instead since you're having difficulty hearing back via email.

Berkeley doesn't mention any scholarship stuff really in their acceptance email, but on their website they indicate that we should probably get the FAFSA and CSS done soon. Anyone know for sure about fin aid at Berkeley?

It's scheduled for March 16-18.

Speaking with a good friend of mine who is now a 2L at NYU (but also spent time in Berkeley as he was weighing his options, both of which are very liberal schools), he came away with the impression that there was an obvious liberal bent to the people there but they weren't obnoxious or "in your face" about politics, and the subject comes up less often than you'd think. When politics does come up, though, most people know how to communicate their views in a respectful way (even if they are firm about their views). Considering that Boalt is among the top
professional schools in the country (and I do want to emphasize the professional part), I wouldn't worry about people shaming or shutting you down just because you're not a liberal. Let's not forget, they have a thriving Federalist Society chapter there as well.
Oh, I'm not too worried about any shunning or political arguments with liberals as I vote mostly blue because of my liberal social views. Which I assume is the issue that most total liberals probably prefer a moderate to be for. Some of the economic and firearm laws are definitely hard to reconsile myself on as far as long term living in California, though.
I've been in the Bay awhile, attended Cal. Honestly, nobody cares as long as you're respectful. The type of things that would get you shouted down are anti-LGBT rights, anti-abortion, racism/sexism, and because it's 2017, supporting Trump. The student body (at least the undergrad) is politically apathetic relative to the stereotype, even if it does lean left.
