I came here from the HLS thread to ask for sanctuary.

Watching the HLS thread thinking to myself that I'd definitely take Stanford over Harvard, easy decision. Have heard nothing from either school since going complete of course, but I like to speculate.

I feel the same way. Yet, I'm in at Stanford, and the less likely its seems I will get into Harvard the more I want it.AndromedaGalaxy wrote:Watching the HLS thread thinking to myself that I'd definitely take Stanford over Harvard, easy decision. Funny how that works, isn't it? I found myself massively discounting Columbia in my mind because I was pretty confident I'd get in. I need to remind myself sometimes that a long and fearful wait for a decision is a really flawed metric for school desirability.ood's_brother wrote:I feel the same way. Yup. And the fact that Stanford's process has less drama built into it compared to Harvard's JS1 makes Stanford seem too easy. Reminds me of HS when a way out of my league girl asked me to prom. It seemed too easy. So I stupidly turned her down, and now I'm going to law school :/.

This is how I feel about the Duke PT thing. Like, 10 days is hardly enough time to bite your fingernails off and pull your hair out and convince yourself that you've never wanted anything more in your life than to go there. And once you hear back, the news goes stale in about a week while you're busy stressing about every other school that you won't hear from for what feels like millennia.
But Stanford kept me UR for a full five months, which was exactly the amount of emotional distress I needed to be convinced that SLS is worth relocating to the west coast and taking on an infinite debt burden.

I hear you. I only looked at school's status checkers to check that my app was complete. After that I assumed I was out everywhere. So any acceptance was an unexpected surprise. Then I got a JS1, and it ruined me.
I'll just have to go to both ASW if I get in. Then I can be comfortable withchoosing Stanford. If I don't get Harvard, then it'll save me a lifetime of what ifs.

Hmmm has anyone else who applied in Sep/Oct heard back from Stanford recently? Wondering if they're cycling back through earlier apps.Kaziende wrote:ood's_brother wrote:Yup. edit: only one person, so no I don't think anyone else has reported an acceptance having applied in Sept/Oct

Just checked the application status checker and it says "a decision letter has been sent." I've heard Dean Deal usually calls, so is this probably a rejection?

Unfortunately yes, it seems it will be a rejection. Could be a waitlist but I'm not sure any have gone out yet this cycle. Regardless, you can call them tomorrow and ask.tagomago wrote:Just checked the application status checker and it says "a decision letter has been sent." Seriously? What are you waiting for?
