I didn't receive an email or phone call, was notified about the Dillard with my packet about a week after my status checker updated. My decision took about three weeks.ayylmao wrote:Email or phone call? Admittedly just overly nervous at this point, but when I was looking through the 2015-2016 spreadsheet it looked like at this point in the cycle people were finding out same day/day after interviews. I interviewed yesterday with Chris, and I was really really hoping to hear back today. I guess this year the timeline looks more like 2-3 weeks? Any other insight from others who have interviewed with Chris this cycle and who have heard back already?

I interviewed today with Grace, who A) was incredibly nice, and B) said Dean Faulk is out of town for the rest of this week, which means no decisions will be made until next week. Sounds like it's still possible that those of us who interviewed yesterday/today/tomorrow might receive decisions around the beginning of next week...

Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
i wouldnt stress it too much. I was admitted day of but others weren't admitted for closer to a month. Think it depends on the time, interviewer, numbers, holistic application, etc. There is not a steadfast rule they are going by. I anticipate folks are going to be hearing back slower as more apps come in though. Don't stress it - feel confident in your interview and application - im sure you are in great shape!!pkalltheway wrote:Admittedly just overly nervous at this point, but when I was looking through the 2015-2016 spreadsheet it looked like at this point in the cycle people were finding out same day/day after interviews. Toured UVA last week. Never have I been so impressed by the intelligence and kindness of students. The building is unbelievably beautiful, and the atmosphere is amazing.
I really REALLY hoping I get in/it's affordable, because I can't imagine a better place to do law school.

Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Checking in here! I'm writing a Why X for UVA in the addendum and I had a really quick question, hopefully someone can provide an answer?
So I'm referring to UVA as the University of Virginia Law School in my first reference, but after that I just refer it to as Virginia or Virginia Law. Is that acceptable? I don't want to keep saying "University of Virginia Law School" and "UVA" seems a bit informal to me. It's such a dumb question but I just wanted to be sure lol thanks in advance!

The website uses all of these interchangeably, so you should be fine!Christinabruin wrote:Checking in here! I'm writing a Why X for UVA in the addendum and I had a really quick question, hopefully someone can provide an answer?

Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I did something similar, used the full title first and then got a bit less formal. I just said "UVA law" since that's how most people here (in Virginia) actually refer to the school. I wouldn't lose sleep over it though, so long as it's clear you're referring to the school I don't think it'll have any effect.Christinabruin wrote:Checking in here! Hey Bob, thanks for your input! That's good to know how the locals refer to it as UVA. I'll make sure I don't accidentally slip in another school's name, lol!Bob loblaw law blog wrote:I did something similar, used the full title first and then got a bit less formal. Have most non-ED applicants who applied after the September LSAT heard back yet? Radio silence on my end.

I've heard nothing and I applied at the beginning of October, so you're not alone.SweetTort wrote:Have most non-ED applicants who applied after the September LSAT heard back yet? Radio silence on my end.

is there a limit to the Why UVA? mine is definitely gonna go over 1 page, probably 1.5 pages. I sent a 1.5 pager to Duke so I'd think it'd be okay. anyone know?

Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Not to be a downer, but looking through the UVA class of 2019 thread it looks like the norm was to receive 0$ in merit aid and very little in need based(and even then only in the form of loans.) Should those of us that haven't gotten anything go ahead and assume we're gonna get blanked? It sure seems like there was almost nobody in between "I got a Dillard when I got in" and "I waited till March and got nothing"
I love UVA but it would be pretty hard to rationalize going there for sticker.

is it okay for out Why X essay to contain information about the school that they already know? like if I say that UVA has X Clinic and explain what the clinic is and why I'm interested in it, that's okay right?
